    "description": "<p><span style=\"color: #003366; font-weight: bold;\">Summary</span></p>\n<p>Thompson House has openings for the positions of a Permanent Part Time Day Personal Support Worker. These positions are responsible for performing a variety of services to aid in resident care and comfort as part of a harmonious resident care team. This position reports to the unit RN or RPN.<br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>This position is governed by the SEIU collective agreement.<br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366; font-weight: bold;\">The successful candidate for this position must possess the following qualifications:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Current Personal Support Worker Certificate</li>\n<li>Experience in Long Term Care setting is considered an asset<br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366; font-weight: bold;\">The successful candidate for this position must have the following skills:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to work collaboratively as a member of the care team.</li>\n<li>Sound understanding of the responsibilities and scope of the Personal Support Worker (PSW).</li>\n<li>Sound judgement, problem solving, and decision making skills.</li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal skills required. Ability to work in a supportive manner with Residents, Caregivers, and medical professionals in order to effectively respond to the needs of Residents.</li>\n<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.</li>\n<li>Ability to effectively utilize electronic resident records to document Resident interactions.</li>\n<li>Physical ability to perform the duties of the position. Which include regularly: standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing and pulling.<br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366; font-weight: bold;\">The successful candidate for this position must be able to:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide personal care to residents such as bathing, assisting with personal hygiene, toileting, and others.</li>\n<li>Assist residents with R.O.M. exercises and mobility as directed.</li>\n<li>Serve and collect food trays.</li>\n<li>Feed residents who require assistance</li>\n<li>Carry out non-prescription treatments, as directed.</li>\n<li>Prepare residents for and escort them to in-home appointments as directed.</li>\n<li>Encourage residents’ independence in activities of daily living.</li>\n<li>Comfort, reassure, and understand residents’ emotional, social and spiritual needs</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"color: #1f4e79;\">Wage</span></span></p>\n<p><span>commensurate with experience as per the SEIU collective agreement.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>Better Living is an equal opportunity employer in accordance with the <em>Ontario Human Rights Code</em>, <em>Employment Standards Act</em> and <em>Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act</em>.
