The Speech/Language Pathology Service provides direct service to patients with communication and swallowing disorders.  </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>Provide treatment of patients according to accepted standards of clinical practice and applicable insurance guidelines.</p>\n<p>Evaluation of patients using accepted standard of clinical practice and assessment batteries appropriate to the patient’s diagnosis are administered.</p>\n<p>Writes comprehensive speech, language, cognitive, voice and/or swallowing report that  are sent to the referring physician.  </p>\n<p>Completes daily notes and progress reports in a timely manner.</p>\n<p>Functions as part of an interdisciplinary team.</p>\n<p>Actively participates in the process of patient, family and staff education/counseling. </p>\n<p>Individuals with Parkinson’s disease are specifically treated with modification of Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) program or Speak Out! Program. Additional therapies include speech, language, cognitive linguistics, dysphagia and voice.</p>\n<p>Attend clinical rounds, departmental meetings, and care plan meetings and reports patient status and progress in accordance with facility standards.</p>\n<p>Maintains annual continuing education requirements for clinical practice.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>Master's degree with a major in speech-language pathology.</p>\n<p>Holds a certificate of clinical competence and licensure granted by the American Speech and Hearing Association</p>\n<p>Required field of expertise in Neurological Rehabilitation; preferred expertise in Geriatric Rehabilitation.</p>\n<p>A Health and Wellness Certification is preferred.</p>\n<p>Must be competent in creating hand and wrist splints.
