Summary Description:
The ACT Substance Misuse Specialist plays a pivotal role in fostering holistic Substance Misuse for individuals through trauma- responsive care and evidence-based practices. This position requires expertise in Substance Misuse principles, strong interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate individuals in engaging Substance Misuse activities. Creativity in program design, cultural competence, and a collaborative, team-oriented approach are essential to support diverse populations. Excellent organizational and planning skills are critical to develop and implement personalized Substance Misuse programs and conduct thorough assessments to identify individual needs and goals.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Substance Misuse programs and initiatives to support the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of individuals. Conduct Substance Misuse assessments to identify individual needs and goals. Facilitate Substance Misuse workshops, seminars, and group activities. Collaborate with community partners to expand substances misuse program offerings and resources. Provide individual Substance Misuse coaching and support. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Substance Misuse programs, making recommendations for improvement. Contribute to the development of Substance Misuse policies and guidelines. Maintain accurate records and documentation of Substance Misuse initiatives and participant engagement. Stay informed about current trends and best practices in Substance Misuse and preventive health. Competencies:
Strong presentation and facilitation skills. Must exhibit patience, flexibility, compassion, and a deep belief in recovery in the work with Individuals with Persistent Mental Health Conditions. Ability to work flexible hours based on program needs. Commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of Substance Misuse. Collaborative and team-oriented approach to contribute to a positive workplace culture.
Requirements:
Must have a valid Driver’s License and a driving record that is satisfactory to our insurance carrier. The Registered Driver will be using agency vehicles and is responsible for adhering to the Agency Driver Policy. Must be OASAS certified as a CASAC or NYS certified as a Professional Licensed Master Social Worker /Licensed Mental Health Counselor or CASAC-T at the time of hire or must secure either NYS certification or a temporary permit from NYS Education Dept. before completion of probationary period. Once NYS certification is secured, it must be kept current as a condition of employment. Minimum of 2 years of experience in Substance Misuse program development or a related role. Knowledge of Substance Misuse principles and preventive health practices. Strong computer knowledge: typing, communication tools, scheduling tools and web browsers. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and database management systems. Proficiency in English includes skills in reading, writing, and speaking. Must be cleared and maintain clearance by applicable regulatory clearances as required. Legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Special Considerations :
Hours per week, reporting structure, and location are subject to change per program needs.
