This position completes mechanical repairs to vehicles and equipment, complies with the preventative maintenance schedule, maintains appropriate work records and ensures safe practices, work quality, and accuracy.</p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><br></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong><u>CORE RESPONSIBILITIES</u></strong></p><div style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><ol style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where required.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Complete mechanical repairs to vehicles and equipment.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Ensure safe work practices, work quality and accuracy.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Comply with applicable safety policies and department procedures.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Comply with the preventative maintenance program for vehicles.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Perform or assist with the more difficult duties of the work unit, including complex mechanical equipment diagnosis and repair.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Maintain appropriate work records and documents, which may include inspections, repairs, maintenance schedules and purchases.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Responsible for training assigned personnel.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Schedule, perform and maintain inspections records.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Carry out the removal of hazardous waste and recycling materials.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Immediately report any unsafe practices or safety violations and make corrections.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Other duties as assigned.</li></ol></div><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><br></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong><u>REQUIRED SKILLS &amp; QUALIFICATIONS</u></strong></p><div style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">High school diploma or equivalent</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Knowledge of air brakes, hydraulics, electrical, and ABS brake systems</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Experience with various hand tools</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Must have own tools</li></ul></div><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><br></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong><u>PREFERRED SKJILLS &amp; QUALIFICAITONS</u></strong></p><div style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;margin-left: 2.8000000000000007px;\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Valid class A or B commercial driver&rsquo;s license (CDL)</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Department of Transportation (DOT) inspector&rsquo;s license or the ability to acquire one</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Welding or fabrication experience</li></ul></div><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><br></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong><u>REQUIRED LICENSES &amp; CERTFICATIONS</u></strong></p><div style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;margin-left: 0in;\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Valid Class C driver&rsquo;s license</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Record of safe driving for the last three years</li></ul></div></div></div></div></div>\n",
