Shares responsibility for safe operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment deployed in Coherent Machine Shop;&nbsp; Responsible for completion of assigned work to customers’ satisfaction;&nbsp;Supports installation of new shop equipment as needed;&nbsp; Supplies technical assistance to customers as necessary;&nbsp; Responsible for tracking of priority jobs to assure on-time completion per customer requests;&nbsp; Shares responsibility for shop organization, scheduling and prioritization of work, and customer interactions.</p>\n<p>Due to ITAR compliance, this position requires a U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien, or protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).</p>\n<p><strong><u>Education &amp; Experience</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>High school graduate or equivalent</li>\n <li>1 to 3 years as a Machine Shop Apprentice or in Trades Training&nbsp;</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong><u>Primary Duties &amp; Responsibilities</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Effectively performs emergency and unscheduled repairs and preventative maintenance tasks per policies and procedures</li>\n <li>Actively takes part in the Emergency Response Team (ERT), maintaining all required training and medical certifications and responds to incident and/or emergency situations&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Responsible for completing maintenance activities on schedule and within quality standards to limit equipment downtime</li>\n <li>Successfully performs maintenance related activities correlated to the installation of new equipment and process controls&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Accurately completes and communicates required documentation of work orders, status updates and service records</li>\n <li>Directs assigned projects including procurement, installation, renovations, and modifications per PSM compliance standards and within safe work practices</li>\n <li>\n  <p>Approaches all activities with a “safety first” attitude, keeping work, storage, and supply areas clean and organized</p>\n  <p>&nbsp;</p>\n  <p>&nbsp;</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Skills &amp; Other Requirements</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be able to work with a wide variety of materials and tooling using band saws, horizontal saws, lathes, milling machines and a surface grinder</li>\n <li>Must be able to work with a variety of hand tools including, but not limited to, drills, saws, die grinders</li>\n <li>Must be customer service oriented</li>\n <li>Must possess good communication skills</li>\n <li>Must work interactively with other machinists and in a positive manner</li>\n <li>Must work a rotating- or off-shift pattern as assigned</li>\n <li>Must have a high degree of independent action</li>\n <li>Mandatory overtime may be required</li>\n <li>Strong background in computers (emails/web based)</li>\n <li>Master Cam programming/ CAD background&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Haas CNC Mill</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong><u>Working Conditions</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Supports a 24/7 operation.</li>\n <li>Regular exposure to dust, fumes, heat, noise and cold</li>\n <li>Ambient noise from operating machinery, 6-8 hrs daily&nbsp;</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong><u>Physical Requirements</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Standing or sitting up to 12 hours per day (typically 8 hours)</li>\n <li>Lifting (Medium Work – Exerting 20-50 lbs. of force occasionally)</li>\n <li>Pushing/Pulling (Medium Work – Exerting 20-50 lbs. of force occasionally)</li>\n <li>Must be able to climb, bend, reach, push and pull regularly.</li>\n <li>Must be able to function mentally and physically while wearing safety equipment for extended periods.</li>\n <li>Ability to safely work on equipment with rotational hazards.</li>\n <li>Ability to meet physical requirements for required Emergency Response Team participation.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Safety Requirements</u></strong></p>\n<p>All employees must comply with site EHS procedures and Coherent Corporate EHS standards.</p>\n<p><strong>Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be able to wear proper PPE including safety glasses, goggle, splash shields, steel toe/metatarsal shoes, long pants, sleeved uniform, and hearing protection.</li>\n <li>\n  <p>Must be able to wear dust mask, respirator, or supplied air for extended periods.</p>\n  <p>&nbsp;</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Medical Screening:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Pre-employment PFT and respirator physical</li>\n <li>Required Annual PFT and respirator physicals</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Quality and Environmental Responsibilities</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Due to inventory quantities of some highly hazardous materials, MPZ is covered by OSHA standard for Process Safety Management, as well as EPA’s Risk Management program.&nbsp; All MPZ personnel are required to understand the importance of following all operating procedures to maintain regulatory compliance with these programs.</li>\n <li>Due to classification of several process waste streams, DEP standards for Hazardous Waste handling and storage must be followed to ensure regulatory compliance.</li>\n <li>Coherent meets the ISO 9001 quality standards.
