Description
At Perficient, you’ll be part of a collaborative leadership team delivering end-to-end digital transformation for the world’s leading retailers and consumer goods companies. As a Retail & Consumer Strategist, you will as a trusted advisor to clients, help them navigate evolving consumer expectations, digital disruption, and the shift toward experience-driven commerce.
You will translate retail and consumer trends into actionable strategies leveraging Perficient’s deep expertise across digital commerce, customer experience, data & AI, and supply chain transformation. This role blends strategic advisory, client delivery, and business development, working closely with cross-functional teams and technology partners (e.g., Adobe, Salesforce, Databricks, Google).
Responsibilities
Strategic Advisory & Client Leadership
Serve as a trusted advisor to retail and consumer goods clients, guiding digital transformation across commerce, customer experience, and operations. Translate consumer behavior trends (e.g., omnichannel, personalization, loyalty, digital experience, etc.) into clear business strategies and roadmaps. Facilitate workshops and executive discussions to align stakeholders on vision, priorities, and measurable outcomes.
Industry & Domain Expertise
Maintain deep expertise in retail and consumer goods, including omnichannel retail, DTC growth, and supply chain evolution. Apply industry best practices across store, digital, and fulfillment channels to drive revenue growth and operational efficiency. Bring a strong point of view on emerging capabilities such as AI-driven personalization, unified commerce, and customer data platforms.
Sales & Business Development
Partner with Perficient account leaders to shape opportunities, develop proposals, and respond to RFPs. Lead or support client pursuits by articulating differentiated value across Perficient’s digital, data, and commerce capabilities. Contribute to solutioning, scoping, and estimation in collaboration with delivery and technology teams.
Delivery Leadership
Act as a domain lead on client engagements, ensuring solutions align to business objectives and industry standards. Collaborate with Perficient delivery teams to implement solutions across eCommerce, POS, OMS, CRM, and supply chain platforms. Ensure a strong connection between strategy and execution, driving measurable business outcomes.
Thought Leadership & Brand Building
Contribute to Perficient’s industry presence through strategic positions, blogs, webinars, and conference participation. Develop reusable assets such as playbooks, accelerators, and frameworks to support client engagements. Help position Perficient as a leader in retail and consumer goods transformation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, technology, supply chain, or related field (MBA preferred). 10+ years of experience in retail, consumer goods or travel and hospitality consulting, strategy, or digital transformation. Experience working within or alongside consulting firms, digital agencies, or systems integrators (preferred). Proven success leading strategic initiatives and supporting sales/pursuit activities. Hands-on experience with retail and consumer platforms such as: Digital Experience Platforms (Adobe, Sitecore, Optimizely) Digital commerce (Adobe, Salesforce, Shopify) CRM & loyalty (Salesforce, Adobe, custom platforms) OMS/POS and merchandising systems Supply chain and fulfillment solutions Strong understanding of: Omnichannel retail and unified commerce Merchandising, pricing, promotions, and inventory management Customer experience and journey design Data, analytics, and personalization strategies Experience integrating business strategy with technology delivery across complex ecosystems. Familiarity with modern architectures (API-first, headless, microservices) and cloud platforms. Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence executive stakeholders. Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and a results-oriented mindset. Collaborative, team-oriented approach aligned with Perficient’s culture and delivery model. Willingness to travel as required for client engagements.
