This position supports a highly specialized orthopedic surgical program within a small, established group of three anesthesiologists. The anesthesiologist will provide care across a focused yet diverse case mix, primarily orthopedic procedures including spine, hand, and lower extremity, along with select plastics and urology cases. The pediatric patient population often presents with complex conditions requiring thoughtful, specialized anesthetic management. Responsibilities extend across the perioperative continuum, including preoperative case review in coordination with pre-admission testing advanced practice nurses. While procedural sedation outside the OR is infrequent, the role includes management of complex airways and occasional support as a backup resource for ICU cases. Strong regional anesthesia skills and experience in acute pain management are essential. The team operates within a collaborative MD-CRNA care model, with physicians typically supervising up to two CRNAs. The practice includes three operating rooms and six pre-op/PACU bays, supporting an efficient and coordinated workflow. The schedule is consistent, Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with one dedicated flex day each week for administrative or research activities. Call is shared equally among the three anesthesiologists (approximately every third night), taken from home, with no emergent overnight cases—supporting a predictable and manageable work-life balance. Monitor patient vital signs, anesthetic depth, and physiologic parameters throughout perioperative phases, including induction, maintenance, and emergence. Collaborate with surgeons, proceduralists, pediatricians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to coordinate care delivery. Document all assessments, procedures, and interventions in the electronic health record in compliance with regulatory and institutional standards. As part of a nonprofit, mission-driven organization, physicians may also participate in international outreach initiatives, including mission work abroad.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Compensation ranges from $494,936 to $635,000 and is determined by years of post-fellowship experience and internal equity.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Perform pre-anesthesia evaluations and develop individualized anesthetic care plans for pediatric patients.</li>\n <li>Administer general, regional, or monitored anesthesia care to pediatric patients across a range of surgical and non-surgical settings.</li>\n <li>Monitor patient vital signs, anesthetic depth, and physiologic parameters throughout perioperative phases, including induction, maintenance, and emergence.</li>\n <li>Manage airway techniques appropriate for pediatric patients, including advanced airway management and ventilation strategies.</li>\n <li>Respond to intraoperative complications and perioperative emergencies, initiating appropriate interventions as required.</li>\n <li>Collaborate with surgeons, proceduralists, pediatricians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to coordinate care delivery.</li>\n <li>Provide postoperative pain management and follow-up, including regional anesthesia and sedation recovery monitoring.</li>\n <li>Document all assessments, procedures, and interventions in the electronic health record in compliance with regulatory and institutional standards.</li>\n <li>Participate in departmental quality improvement, safety initiatives, clinical protocol development, and peer review processes.</li>\n <li>May contribute to the training and supervision of residents, fellows, or students as part of academic responsibilities.</li>\n <li>Maintain accountability for meeting established productivity benchmarks (e.g. wRVUS), quality metrics, and institutional performance standards</li>\n <li>Ensure time is allocated in accordance with assigned clinical, surgical, administrative, and academic expectations. </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school</li>\n <li>Completion of an ACGME accredited residency in Anesthesiology</li>\n <li>Completion of fellowship training in Pediatric Anesthesiology </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Experience</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum 1-3 years of post-fellowship or equivalent clinical experience in Pediatric Anesthesiology preferred; recent fellowship graduates will be considered based on training and clinical exposure</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Certification and Licensures</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Board certification or eligibility in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA), with subspecialty certification in Pediatric Anesthesiology</li>\n <li>Must possess eligibility for active and unrestricted medical licensure in the state of practice</li>\n <li>Must possess eligibility for active DEA</li>\n <li>Must possess Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS for HCP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification</li>\n <li>Credentialing and privileging by the medical staff in accordance with hospital bylaws</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Knowledge and Skills</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>In-depth understanding of pediatric physiology, pharmacology, and anesthesia-specific considerations in neonates through adolescents.</li>\n <li>Competency in administering a broad range of anesthetic techniques appropriate for pediatric populations.</li>\n <li>Proficiency in advanced airway management, vascular access, and resuscitative techniques in pediatric patients.</li>\n <li>Familiarity with anesthesia equipment, monitoring devices, and safety protocols.</li>\n <li>Ability to work effectively in high-acuity, time-sensitive environments, including emergency and trauma settings.</li>\n <li>Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills with multidisciplinary care providers and patient families.</li>\n <li>Compliance with documentation standards, clinical policies, and regulatory guidelines.</li>\n</ul>",
