    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<h1>Hormel Foods – Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (1st Shift)</h1><p>Location: Alma, KS</p><p>Shift: 1st Shift (Monday–Friday, 5AM-1:30PM; weekend work as required)</p><p>Wage Rate: $24.75–$34.50 per hour</p><p>We are seeking motivated, skilled individuals to join our Maintenance team. Ideal candidates show strong problem-solving abilities, reliability, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence. This role plays a critical part in keeping production equipment running efficiently and safely in our food processing environment.</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc; padding-left: 24px;\"><li>Tear down, set up, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all plant equipment with minimal supervision.</li><li>Install, operate, maintain, and repair processing equipment using industrial maintenance skills.</li><li>Monitor equipment performance and make adjustments to ensure safe and efficient operation.</li><li>Perform preventative and predictive maintenance programs.</li><li>Assist with system modifications to improve equipment operation and support plant goals.</li><li>Utilize the Asset Management System (EAM).</li><li>Provide training to less experienced maintenance personnel.</li></ul><h2>Qualifications</h2><p>Required:</p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Previous mechanical experience required.</li><li>Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.</li><li>Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple tasks.</li><li>Attention to detail and ability to use computer systems/software.</li><li>Ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in temperatures ranging from -10°F to 100°F.</li><li>Ability to use powered equipment such as forklifts and hi-lifts.</li><li>Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.</li><li>Must be 18 year of age or older.&nbsp;</li></ul><p>Preferred:</p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc; padding-left: 24px;\"><li>Preferred experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, and hydraulics in an industrial manufacturing facility.</li><li>Experience with refrigeration equipment, boilers, compressors, HVAC, fire suppression, or water treatment a plus.</li></ul><h2>Work Environment</h2><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc; padding-left: 24px;\"><li>Exposure to cold temperatures (35–40°F on production floor).</li><li>Wet, slippery floors and mechanical equipment.</li><li>Exposure to chemicals used in sanitation.</li><li>Loud noise; PPE required including hard hat, safety glasses, and hearing protection.</li></ul><h2>Compensation &amp; Benefits</h2><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc; padding-left: 24px;\"><li>Medical, dental, and vision coverage.</li><li>401(k) with company match.</li><li>Life insurance; short-term and long-term disability.</li><li>Vacation and holiday pay.</li><li>Employee assistance and wellness programs.</li><li>Educational assistance.</li></ul><h2>Company Information</h2><p>Thank you for your interest in joining the Alma team!
