Role:  Restaurant Service Assistant Manager Location : Hakuba Contract:  Seasonal/Full Time Period : December 2026 - March 2027 Work hours : Average of 40 hours per week ROLE OVERVIEW We are seeking talented individuals to join the HHG team as Restaurant Assistant Managers at various venues located by the Happo One resort. You will oversee daily operations at one of our establishments, ensuring exceptional customer service and creating memorable dining experiences. The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership and communication skills, a warm personality, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. In addition to managerial duties, you may assist with food and beverage service, bar operations, and coffee preparation. Some establishments operate during breakfast hours requiring morning shifts. ASSISTANT MANAGER DUTIES Food and Beverage Operations:  Oversee all aspects of food and beverage service, coordinate with kitchen staff, ensure timely preparation, and maintain high standards of presentation and quality. Customer Service : Ensure exceptional service by training and supervising staff, addressing customer inquiries and concerns, and promptly resolving issues. Beverage Program:  Maintain beverage menu with diverse alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Train staff on cocktail recipes and presentation, and ensure proper beverage handling. Coffee Program : Manage coffee preparation and service, train staff on brewing methods, maintain quality and consistency, and keep equipment properly maintained. Inventory Management : Assist with tracking supplies for front-of-house operations, including alcohol, mixers, coffee supplies, and other essentials. Staff Management : Assist venue managers with scheduling, delegating tasks, and assigning positions during service. Financial Management:  Handle cash transactions, maintain accurate registers, ensure compliance with procedures, monitor inventory, and implement cost control strategies. Sanitation and Safety : Maintain clean, hygienic environment, adhere to health and safety regulations, and regularly inspect equipment for cleanliness and functionality. Team Leadership:  Train, motivate, and supervise staff while fostering a positive work environment and coordinating with other departments for seamless operations. WHAT YOU NEED Previous experience as a restaurant assistant manager or supervisor Legal right to live and work in Japan (typically via a Working Holiday Visa) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Willingness to work flexible hours, evenings, mornings, weekends, and holidays, as per the requirements of the establishment Ability to handle a fast-paced and dynamic work environment and to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects (such as kegs or cases of beverages), and handle the physical demands of the job Strong work ethic and a team first mentality English fluency; Japanese a bonus Driving license and International Driving Permit Ability to commit until March 31, 2027 WHAT WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO BE LIKE You are reliable, respectful, and professional in attitude and appearance You enjoy working in a team and adapt easily to new environments You are solution-focused and calm under pressure You love nature, snow, and creating great guest experiences WHAT WE CAN DO FOR YOU Competitive hourly rate Subsidized shared accommodation Discounts at all HHG restaurants and bars A variety of shift patterns to allow for plenty of time on the mountain The opportunity to live and work and play in one of the world's snowiest ski resorts Potential for longer-term or returning opportunities STAFF SHIFTS Assistant Managers are required to work approximately 40 hours per week.
