          "text": "<p><strong>About the Opportunity</strong></p><p>The&#xa0;Yarmouth Regional Hospital (YRH) is seeking a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certified ophthalmologist to work alongside two other comprehensive ophthalmologists, each with their own private, fee-for-service practices situated within the hospital. The hospital&#xa0;serves patients&#xa0;from Yarmouth County as well as Digby and Shelburne Counties.</p><p>The position is suited to a true comprehensive ophthalmologist, providing general ophthalmic care for medical glaucoma, retina, cornea, uveitis, low vision, lids and cataracts. Interest or additional training in glaucoma and/or oculoplastics would be an asset.</p><p>The Operating Room, located at YRH, has an outstanding surgical support staff. There is OR time available for cataract surgery.&#xa0;</p><p>The Dalhousie Eye Care Centre (NSEC/IWK) is located in Halifax, approximately three hours away, and provides extensive sub-specialty care.</p><p>The successful applicant will be a strong patient-oriented team player who can interact successfully with other team members.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>work as a full scope of practice ophthalmologist to provide&#xa0;care to the patients within the Western Zone</li><li>support the Nova Scotia Health Authority in advancing the delivery of specialty care by liaising with the applicable staff within the zone and province</li><li>provide consultation support to the Western Zone, which includes day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coverage</li><li>be accountable&#xa0;to the patient population in the Western Zone by providing care to the local population&#xa0;</li><li>be responsible to the Zone Surgery Department Head for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice</li><li>operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority</li></ul>",
