In 2018, Glatfelter joined American International Group (AIG) and is now part of the AIG family.</span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><strong>About the Position</strong></span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking an <strong>Underwriter</strong> for our Glatfelter Healthcare Underwriting Department. Working within a specific delegated underwriting authority, the underwriter independently qualifies and prices new and renewal business consistent with program underwriting guidelines and pricing directives. The underwriter is also responsible for servicing accounts in accordance with service standards.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">This position is required to be onsite at our Leader Heights, York, PA office.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></span></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Completes underwriting qualification and pricing of new business and renewal submissions, using discretion and independent judgment to accept, reject or modify submission proposal.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Requests additional information when needed to qualify submission and communicates acceptance or declination to producer.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Underwriter is responsible for producers and/or account relationship building and is the primary point of contact for producers in his/or her assigned region.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Analyzes and reviews underwriting information including applications, loss notifications, loss runs, inspections, financial reports, websites, supplemental applications, budgets, and audits</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Prepares underwriting approach to large renewals and new business.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Handles all business in a proficient, timely manner, and fully adheres to underwriting authority as delegated by GUS management</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Demonstrates working knowledge of program forms and endorsements, including various manuscript forms required on more complex accounts and program rating methodology.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Meets all file documentation standards, and passes all audits (both internal and external).</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Responsible for accuracy of final policy product and complies with all quality control and state filing requirements</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Provides instructions to Underwriting Assistants to rate risk according to company guidelines and current market conditions.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Requests any additional underwriting information required including risk control surveys, insurance to value, driver information and compliance with outstanding recommendations.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Monitors risk control and claims activities.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Reviews and takes appropriate action on any transactions which exceed the written underwriting authority of the Underwriting Assistants.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Refers and suggests action on any unusual exposures to Underwriting Supervisor for approval.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Refers all accounts exceeding designated authority level to higher level for approval.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Provides support to sales staff. Attends agent meetings, conventions, trade shows, and visits agents as requested.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Maintains OnBase files consistent with standard file procedures</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Evaluates and compares competitor&#39;s forms and coverages.</li></ul><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><strong>What We&rsquo;re Looking For</strong></span></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">BA degree in insurance, business or related field preferred. Must attain or be working toward AU, CPCU, ARM designation or comparable higher insurance education.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Property &amp; Casualty Underwriter, or 3 years of industry experience as an underwriting assistant, CSR or agent/ agency management.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Must have or attain within three (3) months current property-casualty license for state of residence and other licenses as may be required.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Has proven performance as an underwriter and/or agency management skill.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Must have a working knowledge of all commercial insurance.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Analytical ability is required to exercise underwriting judgment and make decisions.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Organizational skills and ability to handle tasks on a priority basis required to maintain consistent high quality and quantity of work.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Effective negotiation skills.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Good research skills and detail oriented.</li><li style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Proficient in IT tools, and software applications.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><strong>Why Choose Glatfelter?</strong></span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Glatfelter is honored to have been named a Best Place to Work in PA since 2005.
