The successful candidate will work with the Dean, program directors, and faculty to support students pursuing degrees in Applied Liberal Arts &amp; Social Sciences. This is a 12-month full-time position.</p>\n\n<p><b><u>Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities</u>:</b></p>\n\n<p><span style=\"background:#FFFFFF;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Under the supervision of the Dean, </span></span>the successful candidate will<span style=\"background:#FFFFFF;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">:</span></span></p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Advise students in planning an academic program as it relates to their education and career goals</li>\n\t<li>Communicate with students in-person, by phone, in writing, or via other means (e.g., text, video)</li>\n\t<li>Interpret academic policies and monitor students’ progress and compliance with scholastic standards, plans of study, and course and graduation requirements</li>\n\t<li>Counsel students and troubleshooting problems that interfere with students’ academic progress and work effectively to resolve them</li>\n\t<li>Make referrals to student support services as appropriate</li>\n\t<li>Manage web-based applications related to student records, program assessment, electronic portfolios, and data collection needed for school and program performance reports</li>\n\t<li>Compile student data and prepare reports</li>\n\t<li>Participate in all school-level activities and fulfill related responsibilities in the department or college as determined by the Dean</li>\n\t<li><span style=\"vertical-align:baseline;\">Conduct all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed</span></li>\n</ul>\n\n<p><b><u>Other Functions</u></b>: </p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li style=\"margin-left:8px;text-align:justify;\">Performs other related work as directed by the Dean or as situations dictate</li>\n\t<li style=\"margin-left:8px;text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align:baseline;\">Continues professional learning </span></li>\n\t<li style=\"margin-left:8px;text-align:justify;\"><span style=\"vertical-align:baseline;\">Stays current with trends in advising</span></li>\n\t<li style=\"margin-left:8px;text-align:justify;\">Assists other department staff as needed in support of effective team functioning</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p style=\"margin-left:48px;text-align:justify;\"> </p>\n\n<p><b><u>Knowledge, Ability and Skill</u>:</b></p>\n\n<p>The successful candidate must have demonstrated ability to:</p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li style=\"margin-left:8px;\">Foster positive advisor-student relationships</li>\n\t<li style=\"margin-left:8px;\">Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and ethical conduct</li>\n\t<li style=\"margin-left:8px;\">Communicate effectively verbally and in writing</li>\n\t<li style=\"margin-left:8px;\">Perform administrative functions</li>\n\t<li style=\"margin-left:8px;\">Prioritize tasks, anticipate needs, and meet frequently occurring deadlines</li>\n\t<li style=\"margin-left:8px;\">Work independently and complete projects on time</li>\n\t<li style=\"margin-left:8px;\">Participate and contribute effective team functioning</li>\n\t<li style=\"margin-left:8px;\">Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and work in an environment in which all members of the University community are treated with respect and dignity</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p> </p>",
