    "description": "<p>                                                <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Hendricks County </span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Job Description</span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Title:   </span>Road Crew Worker                             <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">            FLSA Status: </span>Non-exempt</p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Department:  </span>Highway         <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">                                    </span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Supervisor:    </span>Assistant Superintendent                <br></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Purpose of Position: </span>Operates various types of equipment for the construction, maintenance and repair of county roads, bridges and culverts. </p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Essential Functions: </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drives pick-up trucks, tractors, single and tandem axle trucks and construction equipment for assigned tasks.</li>\n<li>Checks equipment for proper fuel and lubrication levels and general maintenance needs.</li>\n<li>Drives equipment for snow removal from roads and intersections.</li>\n<li>Uses equipment for applying sand and salt on roads and intersections.</li>\n<li>Patches and paves county roads independently or with contractors.</li>\n<li>Loads, spreads and/or dumps stone and sand independently or as directed by supervisor or contractor.</li>\n<li>Drives and operates all equipment as assigned for hauling of materials for repair of county roads and ditches.</li>\n<li>Drives vehicles to and from assigned work sites within the county.</li>\n<li>Operates, maintains and services tools and equipment used in performing tasks.</li>\n<li>Reports for work during inclement weather for long periods of time as required for public safety.</li>\n<li>Erects and maintains signs per state requirements for public safety.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Non-Essential Functions:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assists in traffic control at work site and/or accident scenes.</li>\n<li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Education &amp; Qualification Requirements:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must have and maintain an Indiana Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License, or obtain said License within 6 months.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>If applicant doesn’t have a CDL at the time of employment, the County will provide training subject to a Loan Agreement whereby the employee agrees to reimburse the County the prorated training costs if he or she fails to acquire the license or leaves employment in less than 2 years.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n<li>General knowledge of procedures used in basic road construction and maintenance</li>\n<li>Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment in any weather situation</li>\n<li>Must be insurable to drive county vehicles without additional liability</li>\n<li>Knowledge of reading transits and applying information for water levels</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Responsibility:</span></p>\n<p>Incumbent receives daily work and periodic task assignments.  Judgment is required in operating motor vehicles on county roads negotiating traffic and obstacles as necessary.  Personal discretion in performance of assigned tasks.  Work is reviewed throughout work process or at completion of task.  Application of skills required in performance of assigned tasks.  Activities performed require good judgment in order to protect tools, materials, and prevent injuries to others.  Errors could result in excessive physical risk and cost repercussions.  The vehicular safety of the general public could be jeopardized, resulting in costly repairs and personal injury to the general public and county.</p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Working Relationships:</span></p>\n<p>Working relationships are with supervisor, associates in same department, other county departments, contractors and the general public.</p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Working Conditions &amp;
