    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><strong>Only Watershed Management Employees May Apply</strong></p><p><strong>Salary Grade: 8 &nbsp;Salary Range: $19.00/hour - $26.92/hourly &nbsp; &nbsp; FLSA: Nonexempt &nbsp;</strong></p><div ccp_infra_version=\"3\" ccp_infra_timestamp=\"1767983622148\" ccp_infra_user_hash=\"489891133\" ccp_infra_copy_id=\"67ba81cf-0b3b-4cda-9cf9-476276f04dd1\" data-ccp-timestamp=\"1767983622148\"><p><strong>Purpose of Classification:</strong></p><p>The purpose of this classification is to dispatch County personnel to work sites ensuring all utility work, customer service, information sharing and data is handled correctly and in a timely, professional manner; and to dispatch personnel for activities and operations to respond to any type of water-related emergencies.</p></div><p><strong>Essential Functions:</strong></p><p><i>The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.</i></p><p><br>Answers calls from the public and other DeKalb County departments concerning water or sewer related emergencies or billing issues.</p><p><br>Responds to all radio transmissions from Watershed crews, 911 or other sources; monitors and responds to rapid radio traffic from crews, supervisors and other departments; and gathers details for work orders.</p><p><br>Dispatches and routes all water and sewer calls and other calls to response teams and supervisors in a time-sensitive manner; ensures transmission of accurate data to crews for each emergency, such as water main repairs, sewer spills, and infrastructure; and acts with high regard for the general safety of the public.</p><p><br>Enters data about water and sewer-related issues in the form of service requests; checks and verifies work history as it relates to any calls or work in progress by Watershed crews; and ensures vital information is relayed to foremen and supervisors.</p><p><br>Retrieves data, gathering information about water and sewer issues, including work order history, maps, etc; ensures information in the database about orders such as repairs of sewer spills, water leaks, sewer backups, and previous repairs is retrieved precisely and accurately; and accesses billing information for customers and citizens.</p><p><br>Makes calls to secondary agencies (E.P.D., health department and others) and utilities, such as gas and electric services, on an as needed basis, to notify them about damage from water or sewer emergencies requiring their attention.</p><p>Completes mandated documents for work orders, sewer spills, etc.; ensures that accurate, time-stamped and time-sensitive documents are recorded; and documents related emails, faxes and interoffice communication.</p><p><strong>Minimum Qualifications:</strong></p><p>High school diploma or GED required; one year of experience in radio communications, utility customer service, call center dispatch, or related work, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.</p><p><br><strong><u>Specific License or Certification Required:</u></strong> Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.</p><p><strong>Supplemental Information:</strong></p><p>*To be considered for this position, you must pass a pre-hire assessment.</p><p>You will be evaluated on Filing, Spelling, Math and Data Entry.
