Get pay increases with completion of competencies.</span></p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 16px\"><br></span></span></p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 16px\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Type of Employment:</span> In-person, not a remote position</span></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What You'll Do:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\"><span>Work directly with Providers (Physician, Nurse Practitioners) to prepare patients for exams, procedures, treatments and referrals, while maintaining exceptional customer service. </span><span>Tasks to include basic clerical functions to support patient care</span><span>.  </span></span></li>\n<li><span>Assist in population health management, quality improvement, and quality assurance activities. </span></li>\n<li><span>Maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA, PPI regulations, and SVTHW policies and procedures.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\"><span>Relay patients chief complaint, provide basic screening tests and collect vital signs as per provider request. To include assistance </span><span>with exams, procedures, and treatment as required.</span></span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\"><span>Recognize and respond to emergencies</span><span> </span></span></li>\n<li><span>Send letters to patients with laboratory, radiology, and procedure results as directed.</span></li>\n<li><span>Communicate effectively with patients and co-workers.</span></li>\n<li><span>Clean, stock, and maintain patient care areas, equipment, lobby, supply inventory and laboratory.  Clean, package, and sterilize supplies and instruments.</span></li>\n<li><span>Collect and process lab specimens and CLIA-waived diagnostic tests</span></li>\n<li><span>Perform requirements for OSHA and CLIA compliance such as refrigerator temperatures, lab quality assurance tests, autoclave spore tests, aseptic techniques, Universal Precaution for infection control, etc.</span></li>\n<li><span>Complete basic radiology, phlebotomy and vaccine/injections training as candidate moves through medical assistant career ladder.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">Be able to travel as needed (day trips) to other communities including to and from Homer / Seldovia by small airplane and sometimes by boat when airplanes are on weather hold. Travel is a day trip, but inclement weather may require an overnight stay.<br></span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What You'll Need:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>The ability to manage multiple tasks at a time</span></li>\n<li><span>Have great interpersonal and communication skills</span></li>\n<li><span>Be able to work cooperatively and productively in a team environment and enjoy working in a health care setting.</span></li>\n<li><span>Required: MA certification with one or more years of MA experience.</span></li>\n<li><span>Preferred, but <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">not</span> required: Experience in radiology, injectable medications, and an understanding of medical terminology. </span><br></li>\n<li><span>Preferred, but not required, as we can provide training and assistance: Phlebotomy Certification/training, CPR Certification</span></li>\n<li><span>Required: High School Diploma or GED</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and a pre-employment background check including fingerprinting.<br></span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What You'll Get:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>11 Paid Holidays per year</span></li>\n<li><span>12 Days of Sick Leave per year</span></li>\n<li><span>15 days (3 weeks) of Annual Leave per year (starting accrual, more days with more years of service)</span></li>\n<li><span>FEHB (Federal Employees Health Benefits) - Health Insurance, a variety of plans to choose from.
