The key purpose of this role is to lead the development and execution of category strategies across the allocated portfolio within the area of responsibility, ensuring alignment and value delivery across 11 markets in Africa. The role provides regional support for categories managed centrally by the Global Procurement Office (GPO), ensuring effective local implementation and alignment with global objectives. Additionally, the role is responsible for building and managing strong stakeholder relationships across multiple functions to maximize value through centrally negotiated agreements, while also overseeing supplier relationships and collaborating with functional counterparts to resolve any disputes effectively and drive performance. Key Roles and Responsibilities: Strategic Category Sourcing Mitigation of risks within the Category and creating driving value through identified opportunities. Analyze spend and user specific requirements for all sub-packages within the Category. Conduct market research to assess Zone dynamics related to the Category and use that information fur future planning drive value in line with the company strategy. Continuous Improvement Execute regional and country initiatives. Execute regional value engineering projects. Define and execute innovation and sustainability strategy. Drive supplier development initiatives with supporting functions within the company. Optimize the supply chain to generate value for the business by being responsive to business and customer needs – e.g., budget spend control, best practice Procurement and use of KPIs. Finance Drive and deliver effective budgets as agreed with key stakeholders. Deliver and track cost saving initiatives and ROI Monitor and report on monthly spend and LE. Support Sourcing Strategy Execution Support Collaborative Optimization activities where applicable. Handle second level escalations with suppliers/internal stakeholders to resolve performance issues. Collaborate with supplier and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of Category Manager sourcing outputs / agreements. Ensure suppliers are correctly enabled through PSS. Ensure contractual terms & conditions are effectively operationalized within business. Accountable for monthly reporting as per the KPIs within the Non- Commercial Indirects space. Drive collaboration between RPO,RPSS, GPO,FP&A, and other parties involved in the daily activities of managing Category activities. Track RFQs and projects to ensure delivery of targets and also to support business operations. Supply chain & risk management Identify and manage significant risks in the supply chain. Ensure appropriate mitigation plans are in place Risks are communicated appropriately within business units impacted, Procurement and the supply base. Key Attributes and Competencies: Good interpersonal skills, analytical skills and builds good relationships. Ability to work under pressure. Good verbal, self-management principles and communication skills. Ability to adapt to and implement change effectively. Excellent coaching capability and strives for continuous improvement. Strong people , leadership   and presentation skills. Sound contracts knowledge. Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s Degree: Finance, Engineering/ Science, Supply Chain, Economics, Statistics Minimum 2 years’ management experience Minimum 3 years experience in Procurement, Logistics or Supply. In depth knowledge of procurement, supply chain, finance and logistics. Pan African / Regional or Global Category management experience. Must be willing to travel across African markets Additional specialised study; a recognised qualification in procurement would be considered an asset. Consumer Goods experience and Alco-Bev industry experience will be advantageous. Knowledge of all relevant legislative requirements and familiar with local market environments. Sound knowledge and understanding of Procurement strategic sourcing methodology. Good knowledge, understanding and use of Microsoft Office tools. Sound knowledge of Procurement systems like Ariba and use of eRFX and eAuction. Knowledge of SAP is an advantage prospective candidate. Basic knowledge of finance and accounting allowing the ability to run/read analysis P&L and balance sheet.
