Work involves monitoring the pool for safety of patrons and the provision of information pertaining to water quality, temperature, and other related items. Knows&nbsp;and enforces all pool rules.</p><p>Tests water and records results at scheduled times. Notifies supervisor if chlorine or pH Is too high or too low, verbally and in writing.</p><p>Keeps pool area clean.</p><p>Arranges for coverage of shift in the event of absence.</p><p>Follows lifeguard maintenance schedule for pool/deck cleanings.</p><p>Takes an active role In the monitoring of lap swimmers and ensures proper speed in lane. Follows emergency action plan in the event of an emergency or incident.</p><p>Completes accident and injury reports thoroughly.</p><p>Takes out and&nbsp;puts in&nbsp;lane&nbsp;lines&nbsp;before, during&nbsp;or as the shift ends. Attends all staff meetings and&nbsp;training.</p><p>Effects rescues and performs appropriate follow-up procedures including the use of any available equipment in the performance of first aid.</p><p>Participates In the&nbsp;maintenance and preparation of daily&nbsp;records relating&nbsp;to&nbsp;rescues, assists,&nbsp;first&nbsp;aid, water conditions, and sanitation.</p><p><strong><u>Additional</u></strong><strong><u>&nbsp;</u></strong><strong><u>Duties:</u></strong></p><p>Employees in this classification may be expected to perform any related duties as required by proper authority.</p><h2 id=\"isPasted\"><u>Knowledge,&nbsp;Skills, and Abilities</u></h2><p>Knowledge of life-saving techniques, methods, and procedures.</p><p>Knowledge&nbsp;of emergency first aid&nbsp;and resuscitation techniques and&nbsp;methods. Knowledge of appropriate maintenance of pool equipment.</p><p>Skill in swimming and rescue activities.</p><p>Skill&nbsp;In&nbsp;administration&nbsp;of&nbsp;emergency&nbsp;first&nbsp;aid&nbsp;and&nbsp;artificial&nbsp;resuscitation. Ability to&nbsp;communicate effectively through&nbsp;the&nbsp;spoken work.</p><p>Ability to react promptly and calmly in emergency, life-threatening situations. Ability to occasionally swim long distances quickly.</p><p>Ability to reach with hands and arms and bend at the waist. Ability to lift and/or move more than&nbsp;100&nbsp;pounds, unassisted. Ability&nbsp;to see, including&nbsp;color, depth, and texture perception.
