    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>We are recruiting for a WIC Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Under the direction of the WIC Nutrition Assistant (WNA) II/III, the Registered Dietitian is responsible for conducting income, residence, and category screening; documenting WIC eligibility/certification information; providing participant orientation, conducting nutrition assessments; providing appropriate nutrition individual/group education sessions; developing the individual nutrition education plan (INEP); and prescribing and uploading food benefits. </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>Works closely with the WNA II/III and other members of the WIC site team to:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Provide referrals to health care and/or social services</li>\n   <li>Provide participant orientation </li>\n   <li>Prescribe and upload food benefits </li>\n   <li>Schedule WIC eligibles’/participants’ appointments </li>\n   <li>Answer telephone calls </li>\n   <li>Conduct income, residence, and category screening</li>\n   <li>Document certification </li>\n   <li>Conduct nutrition assessment </li>\n   <li>Provide nutrition education </li>\n   <li>Develop the INEP</li>\n   <li>Assist in planning of nutrition education topics and outlines for classes. </li>\n   <li>Process therapeutic formula requests</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>EDUCATION</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum educational requirement of completion of an internship accredited by Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (AND); and certified as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). </li>\n <li>For the Degreed Nutritionist with the qualifications listed above, within 12 months of employment must be certified as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).  Failure to complete the above will result in change of classification or termination, depending on Performance Evaluation and/or availability of another position.  </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Registered Dietitian Nutritionist status with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR); possess a CDR Card</li>\n <li>Possess a valid CA drivers license. </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>PRIOR EXPERIENCE:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum 1 year of experience in providing education/counseling/training, in a healthcare or community setting.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>SKILLS</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Able to quickly build and maintain rapport with WIC participants and WIC staff of differing backgrounds; team player</li>\n <li>Knowledge and understanding of and sensitivity to area minority groups and their socio economic backgrounds and cultures.</li>\n <li>Customer-service oriented and basic computer skills</li>\n <li>Able to regularly make appropriate decisions</li>\n <li>Able to provide effective assistance to paraprofessional staff</li>\n <li>Able to effectively organize work, with limited supervision</li>\n <li>Familiar with adult learning and general training techniques</li>\n <li>Positive professional insight</li>\n <li>Flexibility and dependability</li>\n <li>Demonstrated good problem-solving skills; sound judgment</li>\n <li>Modern office practices and procedures including email</li>\n <li>Attention to detail and excellent follow-through on work tasks</li>\n <li>Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The hourly wage range that UHC reasonably expects to pay for the position upon hire starts at $33.82 an hour.
