Description

Description The Advanced R&D Engineer Scientist will be responsible for performing both experimental and simulation tasks in the laboratory, and to apply them in the development of new refrigerants for Refrigeration applications. This engineer will support development of internal modeling and simulation tools to support the growth of the Refrigerants business. The engineer needs to effectively communicate technical information to industry and customers to assist their transition to new environmentally safer refrigerant substitutes. Be part of a team that applies its expertise and knowledge to technical projects, finding innovative, cost-effective means to improve research, techniques, procedures, and products and technologies. This job will facilitate design, development, and testing to meet project objectives faster and more efficiently and you develop and commercialize products & technologies. Key Responsibilities Design and develop experiment protocols to evaluate thermal systems and/or their individual components such as heat exchangers (e.g. air-to-refrigerants, liquid-to-refrigerant) and compressors (e.g. reciprocating, scrolls, and rotary) Work as a team with experimentalists to get the necessary data and validation of modelling results with laboratory data Analyze, solve complex and complicated problems Interpret complex scientific data and clearly communicate results to diverse stakeholders Operate proficiently and efficiently in a matrix organization Handle all related job responsibilities in accordance with HSE policy Participate in the invention/discovery process with professionals Understand and ability to interpret safety standards for refrigeration for field applications (eg. ASHRAE 15/ UL 60335-2-89) Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Provide technical expertise in the design, development, and testing of innovative solutions Mentor and guide a team of R&D engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence Drive innovation by identifying new technologies and methodologies Conduct research to generate intellectual property (IP) and contribute to patent applications Evaluate emerging technologies for applicability to projects Conduct technology assessments to inform decisionmaking Support technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing Identify and assess technical and projectrelated risks Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies Qualifications You Must Have: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 3+ years of experience working for manufacturers of refrigeration systems or related technologies OR Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in research  Knowledge/experience on the design/development of thermal systems We Value: Good understanding of thermodynamic cycles, refrigeration, and heat transfer Ability to do both experimental and theoretical work Experience in working on global project teams is preferred Excellent verbal and communication skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Demonstrated ability to drive technology commercialization is a plus Passion for innovation and continuous learning Attention to detail COMPENSATION The annual base salary range for this position is $112,000-$130,000.
