text-decoration: underline\">Contract End Date:</span><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">  July 31, 2026 </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Responsibilities</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">The Charlotte Lab School Exceptional Children’s Assistant Teacher will have responsibilities in support of Charlotte Lab School’s </span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">instructional vision</span></span><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Planning and working with teachers in developing strategies for reinforcing skills </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Supporting students with specific high needs in 1:1 settings, including children identifying specifically with the autism spectrum</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Assist in the instruction of individual or groups of students as directed by the teacher</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Assist in supervising students and maintaining a clean, orderly, safe, print-rich and positive classroom learning environment</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Participating in transportation, lunch, and student supervision duties as assigned</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Assist in IEP development, implementation, progress monitoring, and reporting</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Consult with EC teachers to support the implementation of the IEPs of students in EC program</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Conference with EC teacher regularly on students goals</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Utilize communication systems for home-school collaboration</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Analyze data to inform decision making &amp; instructional planning</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Monitor student progress through mastery tracking and student learning portfolios</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Participate actively in ongoing professional development and Assistant Teacher evaluation process</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Supervise students and maintain a clean, orderly, safe, print-rich and positive classroom learning environment</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Serve as an assistant advisor to a small group of students; in this role, assist to deliver a social-emotional skills curriculum, serve as an advocate for advisees, and operate as liaison between their families and the school</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Fulfill all other duties &amp; responsibilities as assigned by supervisor</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"color: #222222; font-size: 15px\">Qualifications</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Candidates for the EC Assistant MUST:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Hold an Associates Degree or have completed two years of higher education equivalent to 48 credit hours</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Have experience working with elementary-aged students</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Have experience working with students with high needs’ students</span><span style=\"font-size: 13px\"> or be able/willing to learn how to fulfill the responsibilities listed above</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">In addition, the Lab School Leadership Team will look favorably upon candidates who:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Experience working in inclusive classrooms using co-teaching and differentiated instruction</span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Are trained or licensed in restorative practices, trauma-informed practices, and Active Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI);</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Have a least 2 years of relevant experience in a mental health or human service program preferably working with behaviorally complex children;</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Have a bachelor’s degree in Social Services or a related field;</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Have comfort with technology and experience with Google Apps for Education;</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Demonstrate ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, start-up environment both independently and as part of a team; All salaries are determined pending verification of experience by our Finance/HR divisions and Board of Directors budget approval. Please note the following regarding use of the rubric:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Assistant, instructional, dean and counselor salaries (Grades 1-4) are determined based on 1 year credit for 1 year of teaching and/or other relevant experience. Increased pay for advanced degrees (which may include specialized leadership programs or certifications) is indicated above and paid on the basis on completion of qualifying programs.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">Leadership salaries (Grades 5 and above) are determined based on 1 year credit for 1 year of leadership experience, and .5 year credit for each year of teaching experience. Advanced degrees are assumed, so not considered in this scale. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px\">The position also includes medical insurance for the employee, with voluntary dental and vision plans, and spouse/family coverage. Lab also provides access to a Flexible Spending Account for health and childcare expenses and an opportunity to contribute to a 403b retirement plan. Lab provides the opportunity for Lab employees to earn 10 PTO days each year (1/month).
