Position Overview The Texas Education Agency (TEA) oversees the primary and secondary education of more than five million students in Texas public schools by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems. Well-equipped agency employees are critical to ensuring local school districts, superintendents, and teachers are supported to ensure the Agency’s Strategic Plan achieves our vision to prepare the public-school students in Texas for success in college, career, or the military. The Facility and Inventory Specialist provides moderately complex logistical operations support and technical assistance. The work involves coordinating and performing various agency support functions, including mail processing, property, asset, and staff relocation, receiving, inventory and storage support, and coordination of building maintenance. This role also includes disseminating information, maintaining files and inventory systems, developing operational reports, and providing general support work. The specialist performs additional duties as assigned and may train others. This role works under general supervision, with limited latitude for initiative and independent judgment. This role reports to the Facility and Move Manager in the Facility Operations unit within the Agency Operations Division and requires in-office presence from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., five days a week. Occasional work beyond the standard 8-to-5 schedule may be required, including availability on weekends and holidays. Essential Functions Job duties are not limited to the essential functions mentioned below. You may perform other functions as assigned. 1. Mail & Finance Supports: Retrieve, receive, and distribute US Postal Service mail, FedEx, and other deliveries daily; ensure special mail, including bank and treasury items, is retrieved, properly secured, and delivered to designated staff and/or the Treasury; prepare monthly chargebacks for USPS and FedEx; assist with chargebacks for internal supply orders. 2. Facility and Move Management: Assist with equipment and staff relocations and works collaboratively with other members of the Facility Operations team to provide move assistance throughout the agency; shared responsibilities include setting up conference rooms for the State Board of Education, State Board of Educator Certification, and other internal agencywide meetings; assist in the transfer or disposal of agency-owned assets; coordinate record retrieval of files, transport, and refile agency archive records; assist with coordinating pickup and destruction of confidential records. 3. Supply, Receiving, Inventory & Asset Management: Provide backup logistical support for supply, receiving, inventory and asset management activities; serve as back-up receiver for all agency-owned assets and supplies; verify and receive deliveries, supplies, and assets within the inventory system to verify receipt; when necessary, coordinate and reconcile monthly chargebacks for all supply "sales" to agency departments alongside accounting staff; coordinate store and internal supply operations delivery, including stocking and issuing materials, equipment, or other agency-owned inventory; coordinate supply room annual inventory procedures; may collaborate and advise on internal processes for and assist with recommending and implementing agency-wide process changes around agency asset management and supply purchases. 4.
