This role plays a key part in shaping our embedded systems architecture and driving the implementation of secure, efficient, and reliable firmware. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge in DLMS/COSEM protocols, embedded systems, and energy metering technologies, along with strong collaboration and mentoring skills. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative smart grid solutions that support the global energy transition.</p>\n<p><br>Corinex is hiring range for this role is CAD $110,000 - $130,000 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Duties and Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead the design, development, and implementation of embedded firmware for AMI applications, security suites DLMS/cosem, metering data processing and profile collection algorithms.</li>\n<li>Collaborate with hardware and product test teams to ensure seamless integration and testing of end products.</li>\n<li>Optimize firmware for performance, memory usage, reliability, and power efficiency.</li>\n<li>Conduct code reviews, debugging, and testing to ensure code quality and stability.</li>\n<li>Participate in system architecture design and provide technical leadership in embedded systems.</li>\n<li>Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to firmware development best practices.</li>\n<li>Work with product management to understand requirements and translate them into functional firmware solutions.</li>\n<li>Mentor and guide junior engineers in firmware development practices.</li>\n<li>Train and work with field engineers to ensure products are deployed in accordance with customer expectations.</li>\n<li>Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in embedded systems and firmware development.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Qualifications:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.</li>\n<li>5+ years of experience in firmware or embedded software development, specifically within the energy or utility sector.</li>\n<li>Strong expertise in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems, including experience in designing, developing, and integrating firmware for smart meters and related devices.</li>\n<li>Deep understanding of IEC standards for electric Smart meters and data concentrators, particularly IEC 62056 and related specifications.</li>\n<li>Proficiency in DLMS/COSEM protocols (IEC 62056-5-3, IEC 62056-6-2) for smart meter data exchange and communication.</li>\n<li>Hands-on experience with embedded systems programming, including C/C++, and real-time operating systems (RTOS).</li>\n<li>Familiarity with microcontroller architectures and communication interfaces like I2C, SPI, UART, and RS-485.</li>\n<li>Experience with protocol stack development and integration for secure communication in smart grid environments.</li>\n<li>Knowledge of low-power embedded systems and power optimization techniques.</li>\n<li>Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, and protocol analyzers.</li>\n<li>Familiarity with wireless communication protocols (e.g., Zigbee, RF, PLC) used in metering applications is a plus.</li>\n<li>Experience with version control systems like Git and agile development practices.</li>\n<li>Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, software developers, and system architects to achieve project goals.</li>\n</ul>",
