    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p>KATU/KUNP is looking for a take-charge General Assignment Reporter/Weekend Weather Anchor to help us present the weather forecast for the weekend news and report 3 days a week. We are seeking a motivated, energetic, creative, and aggressive reporter who can think and perform outside the box. The ideal candidate should be able to develop story ideas and gather information for newscasts, have sound writing skills, a great work ethic, and a can-do attitude. &nbsp;The best person for this job will have excellent live shot skills and thrives on breaking stories, and they will be responsible for the content of the weather cast on-air and on our digital platforms as well!</p>\n<p><strong><u>No day will look the same as a Reporter, however, the main responsibilities of the role will include:</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Create, shoot, write and edit meaningful stories for station’s newscast that can be used across multiple platforms</li>\n <li>Provide news on-air as directed from the news management team</li>\n <li>Engaging with local community members</li>\n <li>Forecasting, Producing and Presenting clear and concise weather casts, which tell a story and connect with viewers</li>\n <li>Issue warnings and alerts, produce graphics and maps, and report live during weather events</li>\n <li>Utilize social media during severe weather, as well as write weather stories</li>\n <li>Make public appearances on behalf of the station</li>\n <li>Reviewing material for fairness, accuracy, and balance</li>\n <li>Work closely with all members of the news team, which would include Producers, Editors, Anchors, News Directors etc..</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Additionally, this person should have a…</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Proven knowledge and experience working with current media creation tools and contemporary newsroom systems</li>\n <li>Excel in storytelling across multiple platforms</li>\n <li>Strong writing and copy-editing skills are a must</li>\n <li>Must be able to work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines</li>\n <li>Ability to tell memorable and meaningful stories, we value visual and compelling storytelling, both in weathercasts and as a reporter&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Ability to demonstrate experience with active and visual live shots</li>\n <li>In Depth Knowledge of forecasting</li>\n <li>Sharp news judgement and exceptional writing skills</li>\n <li>Ability to multitask while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks</li>\n <li>Bachelor's degree in Meteorology is welcomed, however, we will accept&nbsp;an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.</li>\n <li>2 years’ experience in weather presentation and reporting preferred</li>\n <li>&nbsp;2+ years of experience as a Reporter</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>EEO AND INCLUSIVITY:</strong></p>\n<p>Sinclair is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and a drug free workplace.
