The role is ideal for professionals with 7+ years of progressively responsible inspection experience in transportation signals and ITS installations who are ready to take on broader coordination and verification responsibilities.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>What You'll Do:</strong></p>\n<p>Serve as a key field representative for MBP on traffic signal and ITS assignments, coordinating with contractors, owners, and stakeholders to verify quality and contract conformance for projects of moderate to considerable complexity. Provide guidance on systems/software integration and acceptance activities for Traffic Signals & ITS devices, and support decision-making by identifying issues, recommending solutions, and elevating risks as needed. Oversee daily coordination related to codes, specifications, and project objectives while facilitating communication among project participants and supporting client interactions. Responsibilities include:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Monitor and verify contractor work for quality control and contract compliance on traffic signal and ITS projects of moderate to considerable complexity</li>\n <li>Oversee and coordinate system/software integration, testing, and factory acceptance monitoring for Traffic Signals & ITS devices</li>\n <li>Monitor software development and software/hardware upgrades for Traffic Signal & ITS applications</li>\n <li>Perform field checks of “red-line” as-built plans to verify completeness</li>\n <li>Perform on-site field compliance inspection, quality assurance, and progress monitoring for conformance to specifications and codes across various construction projects</li>\n <li>Develop and review payment applications</li>\n <li>Verify that maintenance and new construction conform to contracts, plans, specifications, approved shop drawings, permit requirements, and approved materials lists; communicate discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions</li>\n <li>Perform required materials testing</li>\n <li>Perform basic to moderate surveying and measurements to check line, grade, and roadway/structural element dimensions; advise contractors on discrepancies</li>\n <li>Communicate effectively with agency, contractor, and MBP personnel</li>\n <li>Conduct final inspections, prepare punchlists, and verify completion or correction of items</li>\n <li>Maintain project records including daily diaries with detailed locations of work, equipment, materials records, project photos, and inspection reports; prepare calculations and associated sketches, including team activities</li>\n <li>Track submittals and RFIs and maintain project correspondence</li>\n <li>Inspect grading, paving, demolition, special design bridge, signal, signing, coating, utility, and other special projects as assigned</li>\n <li>Research proper inspection and construction methods to meet inspection requirements</li>\n <li>Review performance of, and assist in oversight, training, and development of Inspector I, Inspector Trainee, and Interns/Co-ops; provide daily advising on corrective actions to support teamwork and project success</li>\n <li>Review and/or prepare daily reports for project diaries, as-builts, plans, materials books, and workbooks</li>\n <li>Prepare and check construction reports and monthly project estimates; make corrections and forward to appropriate parties</li>\n <li>Assist in constructibility and biddability reviews</li>\n <li>Monitor project budget and schedules</li>\n <li>Assist in contractor’s monthly evaluations</li>\n <li>Provide customer service and good etiquette to the traveling public, adjacent property owners, and project stakeholders</li>\n <li>Complete administrative tasks including daily timesheets, monthly expense reports, and monthly mileage reports</li>\n <li>Participate in training and certifications and maintain those required for assigned work</li>\n <li>Participate in company and branch meetings</li>\n <li>Coordinate, monitor, and manage inspection activities on a project as required</li>\n <li>Participate in shortlist interviews as required</li>\n <li>Perform duties of Construction Inspector I as needed </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Who We Are Looking For</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Experience:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum of 7+ years of construction inspection experience</li>\n <li>Progressively increasing responsibility inspecting construction work activities for traffic signals and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) installations similar to assigned projects</li>\n <li>Experience across transportation signals and ITS projects, with exposure to grading, paving, demolitions, special design bridge, signal, signing, coating, utility, and other special projects as assigned</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education/Knowledge:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>High school diploma or GED with significant years of experience in engineering, architecture, or a skilled craft in the construction industry; or an equivalent combination of training and experience</li>\n <li>Installation and construction of Traffic Signal and ITS projects</li>\n <li>System/software integration, testing, and factory acceptance monitoring for Traffic Signals & ITS devices</li>\n <li>Monitoring of software development and software/hardware upgrades for Traffic Signal & ITS applications</li>\n <li>Multi-disciplined ITS environment: systems engineering, database technology, operating systems, transportation engineering, electrical and electronic engineering</li>\n <li>LAN & WAN and telecommunications systems</li>\n <li>Installation of fiber optic systems, including splice operations</li>\n <li>Basic mathematics including algebraic, geometric, and trigonometric computations based on field measurements</li>\n <li>Construction principles, inspection materials/methods/tools for construction, repair, or renovation (buildings, highways, roads, bridges)</li>\n <li>Multiple construction operations and interpretation of construction plans and contract specifications</li>\n <li>Client or MBP construction management systems (e.g., SiteManager, HICAM, MBP’s OnTrack) or ability to learn within one month of hire</li>\n <li>Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, email, internet navigation, web-based tools, and specialized equipment</li>\n <li>Construction-related training and/or experience demonstrating ability to perform duties</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Preferred Certifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour (must possess or obtain within 3 months of hire)</li>\n <li>State DOT certifications as appropriate; WACEL; ICC; NICET; CMAA; NACE; MARTCP</li>\n <li>Certifications preferred for horizontal construction (as appropriate for DOT projects): Soil, Aggregate, Asphalt, Concrete, Nuclear Testing, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Traffic Control, and E & S Control</li>\n <li>Certified Construction Manager (CCM) preferred</li>\n <li>Construction Manager in Training (CMIT) preferred</li>\n <li>International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Field Technician II (must possess or be able to obtain within 2 months of hire)</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Skills and Abilities:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Independently implement quality control procedures</li>\n <li>Understand and track project schedules</li>\n <li>Collect, analyze, and interpret statistical data</li>\n <li>Provide technical supervision, leadership, and training to other inspectors</li>\n <li>Identify problems and derive recommended solutions using past experience</li>\n <li>Use computers (including Microsoft Office software) and specialized equipment</li>\n <li>Read and interpret construction plans and contract specifications for assigned inspection work</li>\n <li>Apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to determine field adjustments</li>\n <li>Communicate inspection issues effectively and responsibly, verbally and in writing, with contractors, owners, subconsultants, and team members</li>\n <li>Utilize surveying and measurement tools effectively, including survey levels, transits, four-foot levels, lock levels, measuring tapes, measuring wheels, straight edges, and other tools as necessary</li>\n <li>Obtain and maintain industry certifications specific to assigned duties</li>\n <li>Stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions</li>\n <li>Safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain</li>\n <li>Maintain a valid driver’s license with a good driving record</li>\n <li>Travel and drive regularly</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Guidance/Responsibility:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Assignments received from Engineers/Consultants (typically Lead or Senior), Project Inspectors, Construction Manager, or Project Manager</li>\n <li>Public and client interface in day-to-day activities</li>\n <li>Works with decreasing supervision over time;
