We act for clients in complex and often urgent proceedings before the Territorial Court of the Northwest Territories and are committed to delivering high-quality, client-focused legal services in the North.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>The Litigation Paralegal will work closely with lawyers in a busy child protection practice, providing hands-on litigation support from file intake through resolution. This role requires a high level of organization, strong drafting skills, and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism and compassion.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>The regular working hours for this role are Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm and can be based out of <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Yellowknife</span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Calgary</span> or <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Vancouver</span>. This is a term contract position for <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">12- 18 months.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Standard Responsibilities</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist lawyers with all stages of child protection litigation, including preparation for hearings, case conferences, trials, and appeals</li>\n<li>Drafting orders, affidavits of service, and other court related correspondence and documentation;</li>\n<li>Preparing disclosure for release to opposing counsel</li>\n<li>Responding to general inquiries from Child Protection Workers and opposing counsel on matters;</li>\n<li>Preparing for community dockets and assisting with managing service related issues;</li>\n<li>Regularly communicating directly with Child Protection Workers and is their first point of contact on issues relating to court filings and service deadlines.</li>\n<li>Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic client files</li>\n<li>Track critical deadlines, limitation periods, and court dates using bring-forward systems</li>\n<li>Enter time and assist with billing support</li>\n<li>Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients, counsel, court staff, and child protection agencies</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Qualifications</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Paralegal diploma or certificate from a recognized institution</li>\n<li>Minimum 2–3 years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably in family or child protection law</li>\n<li>Strong knowledge of court procedures, document preparation, and filing requirements</li>\n<li>Excellent organizational, drafting, and time-management skills</li>\n<li>Experience working with Indigenous clients or northern communities is an asset</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a variety of benefits, including:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Health Benefits: </span>extended health, dental, vision, out of country, life, ad&amp;d</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Lifestyle Benefit: </span>reimbursement for purchases from a pre-approved list, including memberships and gym equipment</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Paid Time Off: </span>vacation time starts at 3 weeks, personal days, sick time, and a volunteer day every year</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Fun Environment: </span>annual year end party, happy hours, staff appreciation week and many other social events</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>If you are a professional, hardworking team player with a positive outlook and would like to share your expertise with us, please submit your <a href=\"https://lawsonlundell.bamboohr.com/careers/224?source=aWQ9MTA%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">resume with a cover letter.</a></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Although we thank all applicants for their interest in Lawson Lundell LLP, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
