Description SCHOOL PHYSCHOLOGIST I EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES WE ARE AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Position: School Psychologist I Department: Educational Support Services Employment Type: Permanent, Ful-Time Hours: 36.25 hours per week, Monday – Friday Reports to: Director of Education Support Services Location: Moncton Area Schools Description: The School Psychologist I will be a member of the district-based Education Support Services (ESS) Team, along with experienced educators, coordinators, and other allied health professionals. Under the direction of the ESS Director, the School Psychologist I will be responsible to: provide a broad range of professional psychological services in the school system in the application of the science of psychology to the areas of student learning and development, behaviour, mental health, child and adolescent exceptionalities, and psychological adjustment. consult with teachers, administrators, other school personnel, and parents in a collaborative process of defining problems and developing evidence-based programming to support students, classrooms, and schools. provide individual student psychological assessments, in-service education, participation in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs (e.g., prevention, intervention, crisis response). supervise psychology students, Psychometrists, and/or Residents in Psychology. Qualifications: A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology in addition to the course work and experience required for membership with the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick. Successful completion of coursework in child and adolescent development as well as child and adolescent exceptionalities are required. Must be capable of working both independently and in a collaborative manner with students, parents, teachers, ESS Teams, and other professionals. Knowledge of school-based decision-making and policies would be an asset. Previous experience in school psychology is desirable, but not required. Travel is required. Necessary Special Requirement: Must be licensed as a psychologist with the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick (CPNB). Candidates who are working toward licensure with CPNB may be considered for employment as a Psychometrist II or Resident in Psychology on a temporary basis until requirements for full licensure are met. Salary: In accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees–Professional Support Group Collective Agreement. $3,667.07 – $4,415.76 biweekly. This is an open competition; however, in accordance with The New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees Union Collective Agreement, should unionized employees under this bargaining group apply, employees shall be selected based on their skill, ability, and qualifications. Where skill, qualifications and ability are relatively equal amongst union applicants, the vacancy will be filled based on seniority within the bargaining unit. If there are no union applicants, the position will be filled from qualified applicants for this competition. Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration.
