    "description": "<p>Job Title – Red Seal Metal Fabricator/Shipfitter</p>\n<p>Employment Type: Full Time – Union<br>Business Unit: Point Hope Maritime Ltd.<br>Location: Victoria, British Columbia<br>Reporting to: Steel Chargehand</p>\n<p>Journey Person Wage Rate: $50.62/hour</p>\n<p>Hours of Work: 40 hours/week</p>\n<p>Work Setting: Marine</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Point Hope Maritime (a Ralmax Group Company) has an exciting and immediate opening for a full-time Journey Person Fabricator/Shipfitter in Victoria, British Columbia.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>What we offer:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n<li>Competitive base pay</li>\n<li>Comprehensive benefits package</li>\n<li>Pension</li>\n<li>Health and wellness programs</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Responsibilities:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Interpret</span> engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to plan the sequence of tasks and determine material requirements.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Lay out</span> reference points and patterns on heavy metal (plates, bulkheads, frames) using precision tools.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Set up and operate</span> heavy-duty metalworking machines, including shears, brake presses, cutting torches, grinders, and drills.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Assemble and fit</span> metal sections and plates to form complete units, using jacks, turnbuckles, clips, and mauls to align parts precisely.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Tack weld,</span> bolt, or rivet components to secure them in position for permanent welding or final assembly.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Install</span> fabricated components and structural accessories such as doors, hatches, brackets, and liners.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Adhere</span> to all company safety protocols and environmental stewardship requirements.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Rig, hoist, and move</span> materials safely within the worksite using overhead cranes and other lifting equipment.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><br>Education and Experience</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must hold a Journeyman’s certificate, or have Red Seal in fabricator/Shipfitter</li>\n<li>Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training</li>\n<li>Ability to communicate, read, and understand/follow directions in English</li>\n<li>Willingness to participate in regular training programs and courses</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br>Knowledge and Skills</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Certification:</span> Red Seal Metal Fabricator certification or 5+ years of relevant fabrication experience.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Experience:</span> Demonstrated proficiency in the layout and fabrication of metal structural parts (plates, bulkheads, frames).</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Technical Skills:</span> Advanced blueprint reading and interpretation skills.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Welding Assets:</span> CWB all-position FCAW and SMAW A130 (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) tacking ticket is highly preferred.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Work Environment:</span> Ability to work in a demanding industrial environment, including confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Soft Skills:</span> Strong communication skills (written and verbal English), excellent judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Work Conditions</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n<li>Travel to off-site locations may be required</li>\n<li>Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, etc.</li>\n<li>Overtime as required</li>\n<li>Hazards associated with the trade</li>\n<li>Work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Application Process</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>We welcome applications from all backgrounds and cultures to join our team (including self-identifying Indigenous, status, non-status, Metis, and Inuit and non-Indigenous cultures).
