Overview
About the Role
The Clinic Nurse Manager is an experienced clinical leader responsible for managing assigned areas and multiple services within the assigned practice, supervising assigned patient care personnel during clinic operations. The Clinic Nurse Manager is responsible to ensure the safe and effective delivery of patient care and clinical outcomes, compliance with regulatory, administrative, and clinical standards, policies, and procedures. The Clinic Nurse Manager is seen as an expert in clinical practice topics and is proficient in personnel management and directs care to meet the unit demands in an efficient and cost-effective manner, as well as assisting with clinic budget management. This position reports to the Administrative Director of the practice and the Executive Director Clinical Operations.
Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
Maintains nursing and clinical operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational and personnel policies and procedures within the assigned practice in the Ambulatory Care Center.
“Owns” clinic operations and exercises broad oversight for clinic patient throughput, provider performance, and clinical and/or support services.
Maintains accountability for daily staffing patterns and appropriate skill mix to support the practice’s volume and acuity.
Assures quality of care by ensuring adherence to state board of nursing practice act requirements and other governing agency regulations including National Patient Safety Goals, measuring health outcomes against standards, and making or recommending adjustments in practice.
Facilitates a culture of safety and accountability through the application of Just Culture.
Maintains a collaborative relationship with key ancillary departments serving the Pediatrics population.
Develops realistic plans balancing short-term and long-term goals. Aligns clinic and program plans with hospital goals.
Provides oversight and direction to staff in their interactions with the inpatient units and other departments.
Monitors budget indicators for areas of responsibility in order to assure financial viability, smooth operations of assigned areas and delivery of cost effective, quality patient care.
Assesses clinical supplies and resources to identify comparable less expensive alternatives.
Participates in and initiates quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
Manages the appropriate utilization of clinic resources (i.e., supplies and labor) while consistently working towards initiatives that support continuous process improvement (CPI).
Maintains clinic supply inventory by studying usage reports, identifying trends, anticipating needed supplies, approving requisition and cost allocations.
Measures patient, physician and employee satisfaction and develops and implements plans to improve satisfaction in collaboration with the team.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring
Required:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required, a Master’s Degree (MSN) preferred.
A minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience required. BLS (CPR) is required.
Certification as an Ambulatory Nurse (RN-BC) is desirable and preferred within two (2) years of hire.
Must have the ability to lead a team and maintain maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
Strong oral and written communication skills, and exceptional customer service skills required.
Must have the ability to organize and prioritize multiple issues for resolution.
Preferred:
Bilingual skills preferred.
Prior experience with clinical supervision/leadership and participation on a multidisciplinary team is preferred.

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is NS/05S: $ 111,040 - $ 138,800- $ 166,559 per year per year. University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs. The expected salary range for this position is in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
