Description
Recovery Network of Programs, Inc. (RNP) , is a private, non-profit, social service agency which has been serving the Greater Bridgeport Community and Fairfield County area since 1972. RNP is dedicated to helping those living with substance use, mental health disorders, and homelessness. Our mission is to restore hope, health, and wellbeing for individuals and families in a recovery environment that embraces compassion, dignity, and respect.
The Center for Human Services (CHS) located in Stratford, Connecticut is a CARF accredited, Department of Public Health licensed, medication-assisted treatment program for opiate addicted persons utilizing prescribed methadone or buprenorphine/suboxone, and supportive counseling in conjunction with other support and referral services. The persons served attend individual counseling to address drug use/abuse, personal/family, employment, health, and legal issues. Group and family counseling, in addition to intensive outpatient services are offered to those who voluntarily seek additional support. Clients at CHS also have access to psychiatric care.
In accordance with RNP's Mission Statement, Philosophy of Client Care and Code of Ethics as stated in the Personnel Policies and under the supervision of the Department Director provide general direction and supervision to departmental staff and may manage an assigned caseload of clients with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health issues by performing the following duties.
Hours: Ever other Saturday 6:00am- 11:00am
CORE FUNCTIONS
Dispenses, documents and reports all medication doses in accordance with approved nursing techniques, program policies and procedures and applicable federal and state regulations.
Completes nursing assessments with patients seeking admissions to program.
Maintains documentation and accurate count of medication.
Prepares and accounts for prescribed medication orders.
Verifies, updates, records and files doctors' orders and dosage levels in client records.
Ensures that clients receive required history and physical exam and necessary emergency medical or prenatal care.
Obtains vital signs as ordered by physician.
Observes client, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of client's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
Participates in department's staff, treatment team, medication change meetings and in quality assurance and improvement activities.
Obtains PPD record and/or administers PPD to clients and maintains record of results.
Maintains daily census log, 24 hour shift report, Medication Administration Record and vital sign documents.
Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
Qualifications
CORE COMPETENCIES
Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse degree required. Previous experience in detox or similar community-based substance abuse treatment organization preferred.
Substantial specialized judgment and skill in observation, care and counsel of the ill.
Ability to work under minimum supervision and to assume initiative.
Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships.
Must be able to work flexible hours as needed.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to project a professional image.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES
Current State of Connecticut Nurse's License required. Valid Connecticut driver's license may be required.
