· Support root cause identification and corrective actions
Labor Management & Team Leadership
· Lead and develop welders and fabrication personnel
· Assign work and optimize labor utilization
· Provide coaching, feedback, and performance oversight
· Support training and skill development
· Lead thru Visual Metrics – Safety, OTD, Quality, Productivity, Rework, and Utilization
Shift Communication & Coordination
· Provide structured daily handoff to plant supervision and Plant Manager
· Escalate production risks early
· Ensure clear communication across shifts
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
· Resolve technical production issues in real time
· Implement countermeasures to maintain output
· Support continuous improvement efforts
Technical Troubleshooting & Process Support
· Serve as the first point of contact for technical issues impacting welding, forming, and fabrication operations on shift
· Troubleshoot weld defects, fit-up issues, distortion, and process inconsistencies in real time
· Interpret prints, WPS requirements, and welding symbols to guide proper execution and correct errors
· Support resolution of equipment-related issues (weld machines, fixtures, press brakes) in coordination with maintenance as needed
· Identify root causes of recurring process problems and implement immediate countermeasures to maintain production flow
· Partner with Engineering & Quality to resolve complex technical issues and ensure corrective actions are sustained
· Provide hands-on guidance and coaching to operators to improve technique, consistency, and overall workmanship
· Ensure technical issues are documented, communicated, and handed off effectively between shifts
Decision Rights
· Decides: Labor assignments, job sequencing, immediate safety actions
· Recommends: Staffing changes, process improvements, equipment needs
· Escalates: Material shortages, quality issues, missed targets, safety incidents
