You will protect and promote the interests of both Gilbane and the client in all matters as well as demonstrating the personal characteristics of a developing leader. </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Provides the administration and coordination of activities for the design and construction of the more complex and/or highly visible construction and modernization projects under the guidance of a senior level SCA Project Officer  </p></li>\n <li><p>Ensures quality and high standards of performance and compliance in both design and construction by all consultants, vendors, etc.  </p></li>\n <li><p>Makes decisions and takes action in a timely manner to expedite the timely completion of the construction process </p></li>\n <li><p>Corrects mistakes and errors in design and construction before they can be extensively incorporated into the project or as early in the construction process as possible  </p></li>\n <li><p>Makes decisions on phasing and scheduling of projects; prepares and/or ensures preparation of schedules for planning, design, and construction; monitors schedules and takes appropriate actions to ensure that the project is completed on schedule and within approved cost limitations  </p></li>\n <li><p>Provides ongoing interface with contractors, construction managers, local school personnel and Senior Project Officers on project issues; routinely interacts with Senior SCA Managers on such matters </p></li>\n <li><p>Participates in the development and issuance of project procedures and policies; reviews and makes recommendations on SCA-wide procedures and policies </p></li>\n <li><p>Provides guidance and advice to lower level Project Officers  </p></li>\n <li><p>Resolves issues and problems raised in field reports made by architects and construction management staff  </p></li>\n <li><p>Works with architect/engineer of record regarding change orders, interpretation of contract documents, shop drawing submittals/approvals and other technical matters as required to ensure a structurally sound, code compliant and aesthetic facility  </p></li>\n <li><p>Issues field memoranda or directives to contractors to enforce contract compliance; advises senior management regarding the necessity for the assessment of liquidated damages and other contractual enforcement mechanisms, including default  </p></li>\n <li><p>Uses independent judgement to make onsite change order decisions and has authority to negotiate with contractors and commits the SCA’s resources on such change orders  </p></li>\n <li><p>Reviews contractor claims or disputed work and advises senior management as to appropriate action; compiles contract and project documentation necessary for adjudicating or denying such claims  </p></li>\n <li><p>Visits various job sites as required in the performance of above duties  </p></li>\n <li><p>Coaches and mentors less experienced team members  </p></li>\n <li><p>Supports a positive and inclusive work environment </p></li>\n <li><p>Performs other related tasks  </p></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university </p></li>\n <li><p>Minimum 5 years of full-time experience as a technical specialist in one or more construction design fields; 2 years must have been involved managing all phases of construction work on a scale and scope similar to the SCA</p></li>\n <li><p>More senior experience includes 8 years of full-time experience in a technical specialist position in one or more construction design fields; 4 years must have been involved managing all phases of construction work on a scale and scope similar to the SCA</p></li>\n <li><p>Valid driver’s license in New York State </p></li>\n <li><p>Or equivalent combination or education and experience  </p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Proficient in Microsoft Office programs </p></li>\n <li><p>Strong technical and communication skills  </p></li>\n <li><p>Excellent organizational skills  </p></li>\n <li><p>Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs </p></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Ability to work in a team environment </p></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Ability to collaborate on a daily basis with project team  </p></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Proven capability to establish specific, measurable, attainable performance goals and holds others accountable for achieving them </p></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Understanding of contract documents and specifications  </p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><em>For New York, New York this ranges from $95,000.00 - $135,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.</em></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>Gilbane offers an excellent total compensation package which includes competitive health and welfare benefits and a generous profit-sharing/401k plan.
