    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Due to Jones Act Requirements - USCG MMC is required for this role</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Rotating schedule - travel required to project sites</span></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Scope of Duties and Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to the following:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Safe operation and routine maintenance of the vessel’s power, propulsion, auxiliary, and other electro-mechanical and electronic systems in compliance with the applicable laws and regulations of the vessel’s flag, the international community, company policies and procedures, and the manufacturer’s recommendations in a manner responsible to the safety of the crew.</li>\n<li>Under the direct and active supervision of a licensed officer, monitoring, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance in accordance with Company procedures and in a manner responsible to the safety of the crew and the protection of the natural environment.</li>\n<li>Responsible care and use of the vessel’s consumable spares, mechanical stores and tools inventories.</li>\n<li>General vessel maintenance and monitoring reporting to Chief Engineer</li>\n<li><span>Create work plan and execute daily tasks in accordance with the established schedule in Vessel Management System.</span></li>\n<li><span>Update completed tasks with notes in Vessel Management System as completed.</span></li>\n<li><span>Maintain inventory of tools and critical/spare parts on board the vessel.</span></li>\n<li><span>Assign work to any assistant engineering staff and monitor to ensure satisfactory completion.</span></li>\n<li><span>Work as a deckhand as needed</span><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">SKILLS, APTITUDES, QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:</span></p>\n<p><br><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Mental Aptitudes Required:</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><br></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to handle stressful situations with focus.</li>\n<li>Understanding importance and taking pride and responsibility in mastering the small things, before mastering the big ones.</li>\n<li>Understand and respect the chain of command. Ability to take direction no matter how it is given.</li>\n<li>Continuously demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and ownership by being pro-active in all situations/tasks.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Physical Aptitudes Required:</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><br></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must meet “fit for duty” requirements upon job offer (pre-employment physical and drug test)</li>\n<li>The employee must meet physical requirements including but not limited to, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing up/down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven and moving surfaces</li>\n<li>Able to work in confined spaces and carry heavy tools for extended periods of time</li>\n<li>Must be able to pull heavy lines/hoses, lift, carry heavy items, climb onto barges and up and down ladders.</li>\n<li>Must be comfortable entering tanks and other confined spaces</li>\n<li>Must be able to work in difficult conditions with exposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, wind, heat, etc.)</li>\n<li>Must be comfortable working aboard boats and barges using heavy lines, winches, and mechanical tools for repairs</li>\n<li>Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.</li>\n<li>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.</li>\n<li>Ability to work when exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels, and potentially hazardous equipment.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Tests, Certifications and Other Preferred Not Mandatory Requirements:</span></span><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><br></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Merchant Mariner Credential</li>\n<li>USCG Medical Card</li>\n<li>Preferred: STCW Reg. III/6-Electro Technical Officer</li>\n<li>Physical &amp; DOT Drug Test</li>\n<li>Respiratory Fit Test</li>\n<li>TWIC Card</li>\n<li>Passport, or ability to obtain a passport</li>\n<li>Participation in random drug testing program</li>\n<li>MODU</li>\n<li>Chief Engineer OSV</li>\n</ul>",
