Description Graphic Design Digital Imaging Adjunct Hours Per Week: 6 hours Job Type: Part-time faculty appointment with one semester teaching contract Internal Job Category: Adjunct Faculty Position Purpose: Cumberland University invites applicants to teach a Digital Imaging course for the Spring 2024 semester. The Digital Imaging course introduces methods of digital photo editing and retouching, as well as photographic image manipulation. Students create original artwork through digital photography, using computers and appropriate software. Compositing, photo collages, and special effects using filters are stressed. Applicants with a graphic design background and experience are preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Be proficient in Photoshop and other Adobe software. -Must be able to communicate well with students and other faculty members -Demonstrate a strong understanding of concepts in art and fundamentals of design -Engage in class and student assessment while maintaining all necessary paperwork and records based on Program Director requirements -Collaborate with colleagues in both program and field advancement activities such as creative and/or scholarly involvement -Experience in supervising facilities and students in a 2D and/or 3D environment -Demonstrate organizational skills for curriculum management and program design including analysis of data for continuous improvement -Possess ability to contribute positively to a dynamic setting with collaborative faculty Experience: -Two or more years teaching experience in Art Understanding, Drawing, Painting, Photography, Digital Imaging, Graphic Design, Ceramics, or other 2D/3D processes -Documentation of successful experience as an undergraduate professor -Evidence of successful career in related field -Experience and network in the Middle Tennessee region preferred but not necessary Education: MFA Preferred Additional Information: Completed application will include: -Letter of interest -Updated and detailed curriculum vitae -Portfolio including 20 images of recent work -Portfolio including 20 images of student work -Names and contact information of three professional references (letters of recommendation are requested once finalists are chosen) Cumberland University is a teaching-focused and student-centered bachelor's and master’s level university. Focus on student achievement and experience, and program quality and reputation are primary responsibilities of the faculty.
