In 2018, Glatfelter joined American International Group (AIG) and is now part of the AIG family.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>About the Position</strong></p><p>Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking a <strong>Sr. Property &amp; Casualty Underwriter</strong> to join the Glatfelter Healthcare (GH) team who will independently qualify and price new and renewal business consistent with program underwriting guidelines and pricing directives. This position will also be responsible for servicing accounts in accordance with service standards.&nbsp;</p><p>This position is required to be onsite at either our Berwyn, PA or Leader Heights, York, PA office.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Completes underwriting qualification and pricing of new business and renewal submissions, using discretion and independent judgment to accept, reject or modify submission&nbsp;proposal.</li><li>Requests additional information when needed to qualify submission and communicates acceptance or declination to&nbsp;producer.</li><li>The Senior Underwriter is responsible for producers and/or account relationship building and is&nbsp;the primary point of contact for producers in his/or her assigned&nbsp;region.</li><li>Analyzes and reviews underwriting information including applications, MVR&#39;s, loss&nbsp;notifications, loss runs, inspections, financial reports, websites, supplemental applications, budgets, and&nbsp;audits</li><li>Participates in large account reviews and prepares underwriting approach to large renewals&nbsp;and new business.</li><li>Handles all business in a proficient, timely manner, and fully adheres to underwriting authority&nbsp;as delegated by GUS&nbsp;management</li><li>Demonstrates superior working knowledge of program forms and endorsements, including various manuscript forms required on more complex accounts and program rating&nbsp;methodology.</li><li>Follows and meets Glatfelter Underwriting service&nbsp;standards</li><li>Assists management in the development of new/existing products and&nbsp;programs</li><li>Responsible for accuracy of final policy product and complies with all quality control and state filing&nbsp;requirements</li><li>Acts as leader in the development and success of GUS team</li><li>Assists in staff training and as a mentor to less experienced team&nbsp;members.</li><li>Seeks to enhance skills, knowledge and work abilities of other&nbsp;employees</li><li>Provides instructions to Underwriting Assistants to rate risk according to company guidelines and current market conditions.</li><li>Requests&nbsp;any&nbsp;additional&nbsp;underwriting&nbsp;information&nbsp;required&nbsp;including&nbsp;risk&nbsp;control&nbsp;surveys,&nbsp;insurance to value, driver information and compliance with outstanding&nbsp;recommendations.</li><li>Monitors risk control and claims&nbsp;activities.</li><li>Reviews and takes appropriate action on any transactions which exceed the written underwriting authority of the Underwriting&nbsp;Assistants.</li><li>Refers and suggests action on any unusual exposures to Underwriting Supervisor for approval.</li><li>Refers all accounts exceeding designated authority level to higher level for&nbsp;approval.</li><li>Provides support to sales staff. Attends agent meetings, conventions, trade shows, and visits agents as&nbsp;requested.</li><li>Maintains OnBase files consistent with standard file&nbsp;procedures</li><li>Evaluates and compares competitor&#39;s forms and&nbsp;coverages.</li><li>Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by management.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>What We&rsquo;re Looking For</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>BA degree in insurance, business or related field preferred. Must attain or be working toward AU, CPCU, ARM designation or comparable higher insurance education.</li><li>Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Property &amp; Casualty Underwriter. Preferred experience underwriting For Profit and Not for Profit Healthcare organizations.</li><li>Must have or attain within three (3) months and maintain a current property-casualty license for state of residence and other licenses as required.</li><li>Has a proven and consistent level of high performance as an underwriter with the ability to underwrite large accounts, including thorough knowledge of all commercial&nbsp;insurance.</li><li>Analytical ability is required to exercise underwriting judgment and make&nbsp;decisions.</li><li>Organizational skills and ability to handle tasks on a priority basis required to maintain consistent high quality and quantity of&nbsp;work.</li><li>Effective negotiation&nbsp;skills</li><li>Ability to work&nbsp;independently</li><li>Effective oral and written communication skills including formal and informal presentation&nbsp;skills</li><li>Ability to cope with stressful&nbsp;situations.</li><li>Good research skills and detail&nbsp;oriented</li><li>Proficient in IT tools, and software applications.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>Why Choose Glatfelter?</strong></p><p>Glatfelter is honored to have been named a Best Place to Work in PA since 2005.
