    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<div><p>&nbsp;<strong>What You’ll Do</strong></p><p>As a Teacher Assistant, you will support individuals with Autism and other developmental disabilities by helping them build social<span style=\"font-family:&quot;Cambria Math&quot;,serif;\">‑</span>emotional skills, improve communication and develop functional academic abilities.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Your Responsibilities Will Include:</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type:disc;\"><li>Working under supervision of classroom teacher</li><li>Assisting in educational programming for students.</li><li>Assist in caring for physical and emotional needs of students, including self-care.</li><li>Assisting in classroom supervision</li><li>Presenting segments of lessons under guidance of teacher</li><li>Assisting teachers in training other assistants</li><li>Assisting in the development of instructional materials</li><li>Supporting students who have behavioral issues that may include physical aggression, verbal assault, inappropriate sexual comments, gestures, and acts.</li><li>Maintaining strong knowledge of and support implementation of individual behavioral and educational plans.</li><li>Utilizing school-wide system of behavioral support</li><li>Ensuring the daily completion of all behavioral documents</li><li>Assisting with documenting lesson plans in written form</li><li>Helping organize and supervise extracurricular activities</li><li>Helping to develop and implement vocational, educational, and recreational activities in the community</li><li>Maintaining a safe and clean learning environment</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>You’re a great fit for this role if you have:</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type:disc;\"><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Current and valid NYSED certification as a Teacher Assistant or Teacher (<strong>required</strong>)</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Associates degree or (1) year of experience working with children with disabilities</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Valid driver's license with reliable transportation (<strong>required</strong>)</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Compensation</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type:disc;\"><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">$20 Per Hour</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">$1,500 bonus (<i>for successful candidates and paid out ½ at 3 months and ½ at 6 months</i>)</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Who We Are</strong></p><p>The mission of Easterseals New York is to spread help, hope and answers.</p><p>We operate programs that enable people with special needs to achieve equality, dignity and independence in their own communities.
