Together our members are building a true 21st century union fighting to empower and improve the lives of our members. We are 60,000 strong&mdash;organizing and representing public service workers in cities, counties, courts, schools, private non-profits, special districts, public health care, and nursing. We are looking for energetic, hardworking staff that are committed to real change, who believe in the value of work and the value of public services, and who want to be part of the team that wins for workers, their families, and their communities.</p><p><strong>LOCATION:</strong> Northern California</p><p><strong>EXPERIENCE:</strong> One (1) year experience in union organizing. External organizing and related experience will be given consideration, as will steward and rank-and-file experience.</p><p><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES:&nbsp;</strong>Will work with the Organizing staff to implement the organizing plan of the Local Union. Identify and recruit worker leaders who want to organize to join the union; direct contact with unorganized workers; development of leadership and structure of organizing campaigns, as well as conduct organizing drives and representation elections. Mobilize union members to support new organizing. This is not a 9 to 5 job, and includes long and varied hours, with early morning, evening and weekend work, as necessary. May require travel and periods of overnights.</p><p><strong>EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:</strong> Responsible for probing of potential organizing targets. You will conduct worksite meetings and house visits with workers; facilitate worksite meetings with workers; develop weekly and monthly plans based on overall campaign goals; identify worker issues; assess workers; mobilize workers for public actions, track worker data; identify and recruit worker leaders.</p><p><strong>SKILLS, APTITUDE, AND COMMITMENT:</strong></p><ul><li>Ability to work effectively as part of a team.</li><li>High level ability to communicate orally and in writing.</li><li>Ability to create a message that resonates with workers.</li><li>Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.</li><li>Must be well-organized and self- motivated.</li><li>Ability to exercise good judgment and discern priorities.</li><li>Ability to make effective use of resources available to the union.</li><li>Dedication to improving the position of working people and strengthening the role of organized labor in society through work actions, community relations, and legislative and political activity.</li><li>Ability to work effectively with members and staff from diverse groups and identities.</li></ul><p><strong>REQUIREMENTS:</strong> Must possess a valid California driver&rsquo;s license; must pass a DMV check and have a good driving record; must have auto insurance that covers business driving (minimum of $100,000 per person/$300,000 per incident bodily injury liability/$50,000 property coverage); and must possess an automobile for business use.</p><p><strong>SALARY AND BENEFITS:</strong> The current salary range is $76,054.81 - $124,917.00 on qualifications and experience.
