    "description": "<p>McLean School (<a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http://www.mcleanschool.org/\">mcleanschool.org</a>), a K-12 co-educational independent school in Potomac, Maryland, seeks applicants for a Boys Grades 6-8 School Baseball Head Coach for the Spring 2026 season, which runs from March through the middle of May. Position begins on Monday, March 9, 2026.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>For over 70 years, McLean School has been helping bright K-12 students realize their full potential by providing a comprehensive college preparatory program that emphasizes small classes and differentiated instruction. Through our Abilities Model®, we embrace both traditional learners and ones with mild to moderate learning challenges. We recognize and teach to individual strengths, responding to areas of challenge but never defining students by them.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Head Coach for Boys Grades 6-8 Baseball is responsible for team oversight, acting as a positive role model, and supporting the<a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https://www.mcleanschool.org/about/\"> Mission and Core Values</a> of McLean School.</p>\n<p>This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics, Coaching, and Mentoring.</p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Preferred Qualifications <br></span>The ideal candidate will have<br>experience as a youth, high school, and/or club-level coach, experience with providing differentiated instruction to athletes of all levels, effective written and oral communication skills, knowledge of the fundamentals and techniques of competitive baseball, an ability to build relationships and work well with others, a sharp perspective on the role of athletics in the educational experience.</p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Essential Duties</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Planning, directing, and administering policies for all team practices and matches.</li>\n<li>Help communicate team expectations at the start of the season and reinforce them throughout.</li>\n<li>Designing training sessions that are dynamic, engaging, and provide appropriate challenges for athletes.</li>\n<li>Foster a positive and respectful team environment rooted in hard work, teamwork, sportsmanship, and support for teammates.</li>\n<li>Effectively communicate with athletes, parents, and coaching staff regarding team updates, schedules, and expectations.</li>\n<li>Ensure proper safety measures are observed and followed during all team activities, including practices and games.</li>\n<li>Attend and participate in seasonal coaches' meetings and professional development opportunities as needed.</li>\n<li>Provide appropriate attention and care to student-athletes who are injured or ill, including assisting with injury reports and follow-ups.</li>\n<li>Be a positive role model by demonstrating leadership, sportsmanship, and dedication to student-athlete development.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>McLean School is an equal opportunity employer and considers all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, age, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, family responsibilities, disability, genetic status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
