We reach more than 65,000 individuals and families each year at our 90 locations, including 10,000 youth.  CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today. CAMBA’s Brownsville In, Violence Out (BIVO) Program is part of the NYC Crisis Management System (CMS). CMS is the city-wide effort coordinated by the Mayor’s Office of to Prevent Gun Violence (OPGV) within the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ) to reduce gun violence and address its impact on communities. BIVO  works with 16 – 24 year old at risk youths who are or may have potentially been involved in street violence, community residents, businesses and community-based organizations to implement the Cure Violence Model. The Cure Violence model is a community-based public health approach to preventing gun violence that is replicated in numerous large cities around the country and internationally.  This program will focus on a defined area identified as a program service area in Brownsville, Brooklyn for shooting violence within the 73 rd Precinct. The program works to prevent gun violence by: 1) mediating conflicts that may end in gun violence, 2) changing the mindset of individuals who are most at risk of being victims or perpetrators of violence, and 3) working closely with a broad coalition of local partners to promote a visible community-wide message that shooting is unacceptable behavior 4) helping organize Brownsville Safety Alliance resource fairs with the 73 rd precinct to provide additional support to Brownsville residents. Position: Program Manager Reports To: Senior Program Manager Location: 1667 Pitkin Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11212 What The Program Manager Does: The person filling this position is expected, under general direction, to: (1) manage one or more programs which require contact with internal and/or external clients and/or the community; (2) has understanding of all aspects of contract requirements and communicate this understanding to staff; and, (3) participate in program design Minimum Education/Experience Required: Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) and three years of applicable experience in a human services field and/or equivalent experience. At least 3 additional years of experience with Cure Violence work/model is preferred. Other Requirements: Experience working with NYC Crisis Management System is a plus. Experience supervising formerly incarcerated individuals is a plus. Compensation : $70,000 to $75,000 annually When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.
