Together, we keep getting better - advancing our mission to transform healthcare and serve as a leader of positive change.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Breast Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of specialized technical tasks in Breast Care utilizing high frequency sound waves to assist medical and professional personnel in detecting anatomical abnormalities of the breast.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>A day in the life of a Breast Ultrasound Technologist at Hackensack Meridian <em>Health</em> includes:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Performs procedures according to departmental format, completing exam in allotted time.</li>\n <li>Performs required daily clerical duties, which include the use of Epic, computer system, patient scheduling and other computer systems added by the Medical Center.</li>\n <li>Performs a variety of complex technical tasks in utilizing high frequency sound waves to detect anatomical abnormalities including masses and abscesses in accordance with prescribed sonographic procedures.</li>\n <li>Identifies patient's images with the correct name, MRN and that images are correctly marked to the breast side and that all images have Technologist's initials</li>\n <li>Assist Radiologist with biopsy studies and color-flow ultrasound as required.</li>\n <li>Determines, prepares and sets up medical supplies, instruments and equipment.</li>\n <li>Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures, explains procedures, measures and positions patients for each anatomical view.</li>\n <li>Performs portable breast imaging on ER and inpatients as needed.</li>\n <li>Responsible for interviewing and discharging patients after their procedure.</li>\n <li>Ensures proper labeling of specimen bags</li>\n <li>Evaluates technical quality of images.</li>\n <li>Obtains and processes images of pathogenic conditions in accordance with standard procedures or techniques.</li>\n <li>Maintains records of ultrasound taken, archiving and de-archiving data as required.</li>\n <li>Calibrates, cleans and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning.</li>\n <li>Cleans and sterilizes instruments, supplies and equipment. Stocks and replenish supplies as required.</li>\n <li>Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of 8 hours a day.</li>\n <li>Greets in/out patients when they arrive for their exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T. standards.</li>\n <li>Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends.</li>\n <li>Overtime as needed to provide continual quality patient care.</li>\n <li>Identifies the needs of the patient population served, modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture,language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc. ) This process includes communicating with the patient, parent and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.)</li>\n <li>Adheres to the policies of Employee ID, Standards of behavior, Attendance, Punctuality and Organizational Competencies.</li>\n <li>Performs other duties as directed by supervisory personnel.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Graduate of an approved Ultrasound School.</li>\n <li>A.R.D.M.S registered.</li>\n <li>A minimum of 2 years training in Allied Health/College.</li>\n <li>Certified in Breast within 6 months of hire.</li>\n <li>Must be able to do CPR.</li>\n <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li>\n <li>Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>A minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in ultrasound.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> Licenses and Certifications Required:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certification or Breast Sonography Certification.</li>\n <li>Maintains 30 CEU Credits within a three year period.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>If you feel the above description speaks directly to your strengths and capabilities, then please apply today!</p>\n<h2>Starting Minimum Rate</h2>Minimum rate of $44.30 Hourly\n<h2>Job Posting Disclosure</h2>HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members.
