Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Mount Sinai Health System – 1199SEIU Nursing Pathway Program
Co-sponsored by the Office for Health Data, Outcomes, and Engagement Strategy and the Department of Nursing
The goal of the Nursing Pathway Program is to introduce students to the nursing profession and the various career opportunities it offers, fostering an early interest in nursing. During the internship, participants will work alongside nurse managers and interdisciplinary unit teams who will provide insight into the hospital environment. As a result, participants will gain hands-on experience within the health system, learning from nursing staff and leadership.
Qualifications
Eligibility
Have a parent or legal guardian that is an 1199SEIU Mount Sinai Health System employee covered by the 1199SEIU Child Care Corporation.
Be a rising high school sophomore, junior, or senior with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
Submit an application along with the following items:
Most recent high school transcript List of relevant completed course work Description of any extracurricular activities, particularly those related to healthcare or community service Personal statement expressing an interest in and passion for the nursing profession, as well as any relevant coursework One letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or community leader
Skills and Qualifications
Demonstrate an interest in nursing through coursework, volunteer work, or extracurricular activities Exhibit strong communication and teamwork skills Be committed to attending all sessions of the program

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $17.00 - $22.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
