This position offers full benefits, sick time, 401K, paid holidays, and paid time off.<b> This position does not offer any sponsorship.</b></p><p></p><p><b>Description</b></p><p>The Formulation Scientist - Lab Support for Formulation Development role is responsible for executing formulation development efforts for investigational pharmaceutical products, including solid dosage forms and liquid solutions and suspensions. Knowledge of the specific processes and equipment (formulation, pharmaceuticals) is desirable, but not required in advance, but experience in a laboratory setting is desired. The candidate will receive training in formulation techniques and therefore should be an enthusiastic learner. The work may involve lab and pilot-scale powder handling and operation of processing equipment, such as for blending, granulation, encapsulation, or tablet compression, cell culture, material dispensing, shipping, chemical inventory management and ordering, and workflow optimization. </p><p></p><p><b>Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li><p>Prepare formulations including material weighing/dispensing, blending, processing, and operation of associated equipment</p></li><li><p>Characterization of formulations including physical and chemical characterization</p></li><li><p>Preparation and handling of potent compound formulations and processes</p></li><li><p>Manage shipping, handling, forecasting, restocking, and dispensing of material</p></li><li><p>Documentation and reporting of results to a senior scientist</p></li><li><p>Effective interaction with other technical groups including partnership with a scientific supervisor</p></li><li><p>Support of laboratory investigations of unexpected results as needed</p></li><li><p>Receive requests to support research and administrative activities and maintain calendar of availability/activities performed</p></li><li><p>Perform cell assays with prepared formulations</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Qualifications</b> – BS/MS in chemistry, materials science, engineering, or a related discipline</p><ul><li><p>Scientist 2 – BS (1-2 years of relevant experience), or MS with no experience</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Required Skills and Experience</b></p><ul><li><p>Strong laboratory and analytical skills</p></li><li><p>Documentation and reporting of results</p></li><li><p>Strong verbal and written communication skills</p></li><li><p>Comfortable working in a laboratory setting with strong adherence to laboratory safety</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Desired Skills and Experience</b></p><ul><li><p>Research or industrial experience with at least one of the following techniques: handling of chemicals or powders in a wet lab setting using fume hoods or ventilated balance enclosures, oral dosage form tablet compression, powder milling, roller compaction, wet granulation, film coating, hot melt extrusion, capsule filling, or liquid blending/formulation, USP disintegration testing, tablet tensile strength testing, USP friability testing</p></li><li><p>Prior experience in a pharmaceutical product development laboratory is beneficial</p></li><li><p>Prior experience with cell culture is beneficial</p></li><li><p>Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable interacting with a variety of collaborators</p></li><li><p>Comfortable working independently to drive work through completion.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>About Parexel</b></p><p>Parexel FSP includes the CMC Operations group.
