The incumbent provides program consultation and co-ordination, evaluation of clinical interventions, formal supervisory (clinical/ professional and/or administrative) relationship with other employees, preceptor students in formal clinical practicum, and provides professional and public education regarding mental health and addiction issues and resources. As a senior practitioner, acts as a resource for other professionals for mental health and addiction in the community. Human Resources Exemption: No Education Master of Social Work (MSW) Competencies Computer skills Experience 3 yrs (postgraduate) exp working in community mental health & addiction services Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge in various mental health and addiction and harm reduction strategies Knowledge of community resources including treatment programs & support agencies Exp. in mental health & addictions community outreach & crisis interventions Ability to enter and retrieve data in computer database systems Highly developed written and oral communication skills Ability to prepare reports in a clear, concise and timely manner. Ability to provide public presentation and professional training. Demonstrates critical thinking, problem solving, conflict resolution skills Excellent consultation & public relation skills Public relation skills with the ability to maintain effective work relationships Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act and other legislation Demonstrated leadership skills, workload management and administration skills. Ability to manage workload/staff development related to resource coordination Ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting Able to work independently in a self motivated manner & respond under pressure Knowledge of Recovery Philosophy Cultural competency and can work effectively in multicultural environment Ability to identify, implement & evaluate areas of client difficulty Formulate evidence based intervention Knowledge of intervention strategies for individual with Mental health problems Other Information Must have current practicing registration with SASW. Requires a valid driver’s license. May require access to a vehicle for work.
