Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) with Product and Tooling Engineering to enable part consolidation and structural performance. Collaborate with machine OEMs and system integrators on equipment design, layout, and integration. Lead launch and operation of casting cells to ensure stable, high-quality production to achieve part quality specifications and program production rate. Establish standards for machine setup, parameter control, and preventive maintenance. Lead detailed facility layout, cell and equipment design from concept stage, including all technical aspects of the equipment such as mechanical design, electrical, software, automation, safety and operation. Define, monitor and optimize key process metrics. Act as a technical leader across Manufacturing Engineering. Coordinate with suppliers and internal cross functional teams for successful program development. Develop internal expertise in casting technologies and equipment operation. Enforce compliance with all safety and environmental standards.
Qualifications
You'll have...
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience. 8+ years of experience in die casting, with significant exposure to large structural or giga castings. Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification (preferred). Proven technical background on high-pressure die casting process, equipment design, specification, and operation. Strong electrical, automation, mechanical and hydraulic background. Proven track record in launching new automotive programs with casting products. Strong project management and cross-functional leadership capabilities.
Even better, you may have...
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions in a fast paced, dynamic environment Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to present, persuade, and collaborate at all levels of the organization. Highly motivated self-starter capable of driving change and influencing engineering decisions, with or without authority. Ability to work in a production setting and aid in troubleshooting of supplier equipment and processes. Ability to address a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
