Job Summary
The Production Scheduler is responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing daily and long-term production activities to ensure timely completion of work in alignment with operational commitments and quality standards. This role oversees scheduling, inventory control, and resource allocation (materials and manpower) to support efficient production flows across multiple projects. The Production Scheduler collaborates closely with operations, project management, engineering, and sales teams to develop accurate schedules, monitor progress, and address potential delays.
Responsibilities
Efficiently schedule production to ensure work is progressed and completed in a timely manner to meet plant commitments and standards Collaborate with estimating and sales teams to support project costing and pricing strategies Monitor and report on progress, productivity and cost on a regular basis Utilize systems and technology to enhance operational efficiency and streamline workflows Manage inventory levels and workforce allocation to ensure availability of materials (steel, rebar, mesh, strand) and labor to meet production requirements Coordinate fabrication, galvanizing, and readiness of job site materials, connection components, and erection hardware Ensure production requirements for pipe plant reinforcing are met in accordance with work orders and deadlines Maintain compliance with CWB standards, including audits and certification requirements Order and expedite material for production and maintain accurate records in computerized inventory systems Oversee and track project-specific materials, ensuring proper allocation and cost control Create daily casting sequences for projects to communicate with detailing, engineering and project management Work cross-functionally with operations and project management to ensure production plans align with project timelines
Requirements
Experience in production scheduling within manufacturing, construction, or a related environment
Solid understanding of materials, production processes, and the ability to interpret drawings and work orders
Knowledge of quality standards, certification requirements, and audits (e.g., CWB compliance)
Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with inventory or ERP systems (JD Edwards is an asset)
Understanding of production workflows, capacity planning, and resource allocation
Ability to develop and adjust production schedules while managing labour and materials effectively
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
Effective communicator who can collaborate across operations, engineering, project management, and sales
Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement

Established in 1963, Strescon Limited has grown to become the largest precast, pre-stressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. Its primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces and the New England region of the United States. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollowcore slabs, precast pile, and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70,000 sq. ft. in Saint John, New Brunswick and 50,000 sq. ft. in Bedford, Nova Scotia.
In addition to our engineered precast facilities for custom components, Strescon also operates a 32,000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John which manufactures standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems, such as pipe, manholes and catch basins.
