    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><p data-pasted=\"true\"><strong>JOB SUMMARY</strong>: &nbsp;This position is responsible for leading a crew in the maintenance of water lines, fire hydrants, and water valves.</p><p>&nbsp;<strong>MAJOR DUTIES</strong>:</p><ul><li>&nbsp;Performs emergency water main repairs.</li><li>Relocates and extends water lines.</li><li>Assists with water line taps and fire hydrant repairs.</li><li>Assists in selection, training, and evaluation of assigned staff.</li><li>Restores city rights of way and private property disturbed by construction.</li><li>Performs concrete and asphalt repairs to restore property to usable condition.</li><li>Performs valve maintenance and water line mapping.</li><li>Cross-trains with other divisions and assists as-needed.</li><li>Serves on-call for snow/ice operations.</li><li>Performs distribution water maintenance.&nbsp;</li><li>Serves as the department&rsquo;s utility maintenance specialist.</li><li>Serves on-call every sixth week and more frequently as-needed. On-call requires a 30-minute response time.&nbsp;</li><li>Locates utilities as-needed.&nbsp;</li><li>Oversees the flushing of the water distribution system annually.</li><li>Supervises and assists in making water connections to water mains for houses and businesses.</li><li>Complies with established safety standards and regulations. Promotes safety and helps set standards.</li><li>Establishes work zones to ensure the safety of staff members and the general public.</li><li>Determines necessary materials, equipment, and personnel required to perform assigned tasks.&nbsp;</li><li>Build and maintain tactful, effective/positive working relationship with co-workers, other city employees, and the public.&nbsp;</li><li>Foster and contribute to a work environment that supports and exhibits honesty, diversity, integrity, trust and respect.&nbsp;</li><li>Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.</li><li>Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.&nbsp;</li></ul><p data-pasted=\"true\"><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</strong>:</p><ul><li>&nbsp;Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.&nbsp;</li><li>Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years<ins cite=\"mailto:Lynn\" datetime=\"2014-06-10T15:51\">&rsquo;</ins> experience or service.&nbsp;</li><li>Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid CDL Class B driver&#39;s license with air brake and tank vehicle endorsements within 6 months of hire.</li><li>Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver&#39;s license issued by the State of Missouri for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.</li><li>Must obtain DS3 certification within 6 months of hire (requires 3 total years in water distribution to earn).</li></ul></div></div>\n",
