Description

Overview Kimley-Horn's Long Beach office is seeking a Project Manager with 6+ years of experience to join their Structures team! This is not a remote position. Responsibilities Manage complex waterfront and coastal projects from concept through completion, including marinas, piers, ports, and coastal infrastructure. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies, facilitating clear communication and collaborative decision-making throughout project delivery. Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource plans to ensure successful on-time, on-budget project outcomes. Provide structural engineering analysis and design for marine structures including wharves, bulkheads, sheet pile walls, pile-supported platforms, and floating dock systems. Supervise, guide, and mentor junior engineers and project team members, fostering professional growth and upholding Kimley-Horn's high standards of technical excellence. Support coastal and waterfront permitting processes including USACE, CEQA/NEPA, Coastal Commission, and other relevant regulatory frameworks. Identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow Kimley-Horn's Coastal Waterfront Practice through client relationship management and strategic business development initiatives. Supervise and mentor other team members to foster professional growth and uphold the firm’s high standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including environmental scientists, planners, and naval architects on multi-disciplinary waterfront projects. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Coastal, Structural, or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field. Minimum 6 years of relevant engineering and project management experience with a demonstrated focus on coastal and waterfront infrastructure projects. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Strong technical knowledge of coastal and waterfront infrastructure systems, structural design, permitting, and regulatory compliance. Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary project teams and consistently deliver exceptional client service. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the organizational and leadership ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Professional Engineer (PE) license in a relevant state; multi-state license a plus. Master's degree in Structural Engineering or similar advanced program. Background in structural engineering with applied experience in marine or coastal structural systems (wharves, piers, sheet pile, pile foundations, or similar). Familiarity with coastal permitting processes — USACE Section 404/10, California Coastal Commission, CEQA/NEPA, and related regulatory frameworks. Experience with BIM tools (Revit), AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or structural analysis software applicable to marine environments. Demonstrated history of business development contributions, including client relationship management and proposal development. Experience supporting naval or military waterfront facility projects (e.g., NAVFAC, US Coast Guard) a plus. Salary Range: $120,000 to $150,000 Why Kimley-Horn?
