Description
Description
We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves, and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?
The North American Quality Office is responsible for developing, maintaining, auditing, and driving standards throughout our manufacturing facilities in North America. These standards are the heart of our Quality Operating System (QOS) and ensure we produce world-class products for our customers.
In this role...
You will be instrumental in implementing and continuously improving FMA processes across various vehicle systems and components, directly contributing to large projects that significantly impact company operations.
Responsibilities
What you’ll be able to do…
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in design, manufacturing, and quality to proactively identify, analyze, and mitigate potential failure modes, thereby enhancing product reliability and customer satisfaction. Develop, implement, and maintain FMA processes and methodologies, including DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), boundary diagrams, P-diagrams, RCLs, and Interface Tables. Lead and participate in FMA workshops and reviews with cross-functional teams to identify potential failure modes and develop effective mitigation strategies. Integrate FMA activities into the product development lifecycle, from concept to launch. Monitor and analyze FMA process implementation to identify trends, prioritize risks, and drive continuous improvement. Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to implement FMA recommendations and ensure their effectiveness. Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies in FMA and reliability engineering. Foster a culture of proactive problem-solving and continuous improvement within the organization. Travel up to 10% within North America.
Qualifications
You’ll have…
A Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, science or related.
3 or more years of experience in engineering or science, with a focus on FMA, reliability engineering, or related areas
Experience with problem-solving tools and techniques (e.g., 8D, 5Why, Ishikawa diagrams).
Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
Even better you’ll have…
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Science Engineering. 5 or more years of experience in engineering or science, with a focus on FMA, reliability engineering, or related areas Demonstrated experience in automotive body design and release. A passion for improving product quality, demonstrated by effectively communicating and presenting quality data. Knowledge of GPDS (Global Product Development System). Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt (DMAIC or DFSS). Experience in a Quality and/or testing organization. Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., AIAG FMEA Handbook v1, IATF 16949) and FMA tools like Magic Draw.
