Description

Job purpose The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for the patient’s pre-anesthesia and medication, review of the patient’s treatment plan and preparing the patient for surgical procedures. The CRNA administers anesthesia and supporting drugs, monitors the patient’s reaction before and after surgery and ensures all documentation regarding anesthesia is accurate. This advanced nursing position involves working in collaboration with physicians in the operating and recovery room of Round Rock Surgery Center. Duties and responsibilities 1. Select and administer anesthesia medications or treatments to patients undergoing surgery. 2. Monitor patient vital signs and oversee patient recovery from anesthesia. 3. Evaluate patients’ post-surgical responses to anesthesia and take appropriate corrective actions if complications occur. 4. Perform pre-anesthetic screenings, including physical evaluations and patient interviews, and document results. 5. Discharge patients from post-anesthesia care. 6. Manage patients’ airway or pulmonary status during surgery and monitor responses using invasive and noninvasive techniques. 7. Prepare prescribed solutions and administer local, intravenous, or other anesthetics following specified methods and procedures. 8. Respond to emergency situations by providing airway management, administering emergency fluids or drugs, or using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques. 9. Assess patients’ medical histories to predict anesthesia response. 10. Develop anesthesia care plans and obtain informed consent from patients for anesthesia procedures. 11. Disassemble and clean anesthesia equipment. 12. Inform physicians/surgeons of patient’s condition during surgery. 13. Assist physicians/surgeons with patient care during surgery when appropriate. 14. Adhere to all Advanced Pain Care, Round Rock Surgery Center and specific departmental policies. 15. Display regular and predictable attendance. 16. Perform other job duties as assigned.
