Description

OVERVIEW Reporting to Director, Design & Implementation, the Manager, QA is responsible for the leadership of quality assurance standards and measures of technology services organization wide.  Using proven analytical and problem-solving skills to develop, establish and enforce these standards, you will validate processes through careful testing to maximize the benefit of investments in enterprise initiatives. Working in an open and collaborate environment, you will lead a team who works closely with cross functional areas on design, development, implementation and maintenance of applications and business solutions.  You will support the focused delivery on a multi-year digital transformation strategy to support the expansion of extended producer responsibility (EPR) recycling programs across Canada. This is a salary paid, remote role, requiring residency in Canada. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the development, establishment, and enforcement of quality assurance measures, and testing standards for new applications, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout their development/product lifecycles. Ensure software quality measures comply with regulatory standards, industry standards, and accepted best practices. Create methodologies and processes for collection and analysis of data to ensure software, system and product quality. Direct the analysis of formal test results to discover and report defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues, and interoperability flaws. Direct the analysis of documentation and technical specifications for any new application under deployment or consideration to determine its intended functionality. Develop change control processes, practices, and guidelines for new and existing technologies. Determine the selection and appropriate usage of automated test tools and data collection tools. Develop and write test plans and scripts for tracking defects and fixes in product development, software application development, information systems, and operations systems. Apply established metrics to determine the readiness, quality, and operability of software, systems, and products due for release to clients and/or within the enterprise. Create and communicate test plans and scripts that will determine optimal application performance according to specifications; revise as needed. Conduct internal audits to measure and assure adherence to established QA standards for software development, application integration, and information system performance, and corresponding documentation. Coordinate testing of new software to ensure integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and technical specifications. Communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of quality assurance best practices. Flexible working style, can adapt in a dynamic environment by showing a tolerance for change as new program obligations are implemented. Manage all members of the quality assurance team to ensure work timelines are met. Train, coach, and mentor assigned QA team members. QUALIFICATIONS Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Other relevant industry certification and/or designations are an asset. Experience 3+ years direct experience overseeing design, development, and implementation of quality assurance standards for software testing. 3+ years direct experience as a QA Manager for major application integration and/or major application product release. 2+ years direct experience managing all aspects of a QA team. Strong knowledge of system testing metrics, best practices and methodologies. Hands-on experience with ad hoc query programs, automated testing tools, and reporting software. Proven data analysis, data verification, and problem-solving abilities. Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures. Extensive experience with SAP as well as SaaS applications. Experience managing tasks through JIRA and Confluence Personal Attributes Professional business communicator, advanced written and oral communication skills. Highly skilled in coaching, listening, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Able to communicate ideas in both technical, and user-friendly language. A self-motivated, accountable, and autonomous leader, who still works great in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities. Can effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Bilingualism in English and French is an asset, as is the ability to speak other languages. WORKING CONDITIONS Working Hours Covering core business hours (9AM to 3PM ET), working at least forty (40) hours per week, and understanding there may be periods of extended working hours to meet deadlines during peak business cycles. Remote and/or Field Work A remote position with a flexible work schedule and periods of uneven workflow. Travel Not applicable. PAY TRANSPARENCY Expected   Compensation : An annual base salary in the range of $100,000 to $120,000. The salary range listed complies with the Ontario Employment Standards Act and reflects a potential base salary range for this role.  The actual salary offered will be determined within the range, and will depend on factors, such as the candidate’s unique qualifications, relevant experience, work location and expected contributions.
