The overall objective of the Testing Technician Lead is to lead the work of testing and troubleshooting during the final assembly phase of electrical control and distribution equipment prior to client delivery to ensure product excellence and optimal functionality. Accountabilities Supervise and schedule staff on projects to meet quality standards and on-time shipment requirements. Provide technical guidance and direct corrective actions of Testing Technicians by demonstrating advanced knowledge and technical skills for testing Low and Medium Voltage switchgear. Perform diagnostics, troubleshoot, investigate, advise ONCR/NCRs, and repair all custom-built equipment prior to client shipment.  Perform Factory Acceptance Tests using industry compliance standards, such as IEEE and ANSI, to show the functionality of MCG products and advise of interfacing capabilities with clients’ existing equipment.  Interact with customers while providing design verifications and product reliability demonstrations during client witness testing activities.  Train personnel in all areas of shop testing and troubleshooting, while providing expertise to Field Service Technicians on the floor or on-site for optimal client responsiveness and feedback capabilities. Ensure a safe workplace for all personnel and visitors to the Manufacturing floor through strict adherence to 5S safety standards as well as OSHA and EPA requirements. Manage test technician responsibilities to ensure they are contributing 90% of their time to directly adding value to jobs. Demonstrate a mastery level of technical skills about performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and testing for reliability on Low, Medium, and Arc-Resistant switchgear and electrical control equipment using tools such as voltmeters, multimeters, etc. Verify and document that electricity can flow uninterrupted, HIPOT tests on copper bus, conduct lockout/tagout procedure, and all components within the unit operate at the specified current level.  Investigate, advise ONCR/NCRs, ensure final product is consistent with technical schematics, perform basic device programming, and repair all custom-built equipment prior to client shipment as a measure of quality control.  Perform Factory Acceptance Tests to ABS regulations using industry compliance standards, such as IEEE and ANSI, to show the functionality of MCG products and advise of interfacing capabilities with clients’ existing equipment.  Identify functionality or defects through visual and electrical inspections on power distribution equipment and perform maintenance or repairs within testing guidelines. Interact with customers on design verifications and product reliability demonstrations during client witness testing activities, while strengthening partner and vendor relationships within Manufacturing.  Advise and act as a resource to provide expertise and technical guidance to Wiremen or Field Service Technicians. Train personnel as a subject matter expert in all areas of shop testing and troubleshooting, while providing expertise to Field Service Technicians on the floor or on-site for optimal client responsiveness and feedback capabilities. Perform other duties as assigned. Required knowledge/Experience 5+ years of experience testing equipment using IEEE or ANSI Acceptance Standards, required.  Hands-on experience with electrical testing procedures and equipment. Working knowledge of medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) switchgear, control panels, PCD, and crimp plate buildings Familiarity with UL 891, UL 1558, DLAH requirements, and related industry standards Understanding of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and test documentation Knowledge of safety protocols for working with energized electrical equipment Strong leadership and team development abilities Excellent problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills Clear, professional communication with internal teams and external clients Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a production environment Proficiency with standard manufacturing software and documentation systems Education Highschool Diploma or GED required. Supervisory Requirements Directly supervises a team of Testing Technicians. Performs supervisory responsibilities by managing and allocating employee resources in accordance with company policies and company initiatives/goals. Work Environment and Physical Demands This is a FLSA non-exempt position and is paid on an hourly basis, where project requirements and tight client deadlines may require workweeks over forty (40) hours (including weekends or holidays)   This role is based on the production floor. This position requires standing for extended periods, working around machinery, and adherence to all safety and compliance standards.  Mobility : Ability to move around the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs.  Manual Dexterity : Occasional use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.  Lifting : Ability to lift and carry items up to fifty (50) pounds. All lifting should be done following OSHA standards.  Visual and Auditory Requirements : Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively with team members.
